Dave Brubeck, born on December 6, 1920 in Concord, was an American pianist. He died on December 6, 2012 at the age of 92.

I saw him perform live when he was around 82 — simply amazing. Most of the performance was jazz, but since he was at Georgetown University, one of the beautiful pieces he conducted was a choral mass, with the refrain “Bow down, bow down.” It was gorgeous. I have not been able to find where it is recorded, if any freepers can help.

Dave’s contributions to Jazz go beyond his compositions, style and musical talent. I met him once after a show, a truly nice guy.

I had the good fortune of seeing Mr. Brubeck live in San Francisco several years ago. Even in his eighties, he was amazing. R.I.P.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet's "Bossa Nova USA," a somewhat rare album, was my first ever record album. Loved it.

Got to see the Quartet at Arizona State U back in the late 1960s---just before Paul Desmond was gone. Got to go backstage with Joe Morello. Amazing drummer.

A lot of jazz players looked down on Brubeck because he wasn't far out/Miles Davis-ish enough, but he epitomized the best of jazz.

I saw in in concert with his sons about 35 years ago. Many are claimed to be legends, few people qualify. He’s one of the ones who qualify. RIP

I saw him on what may well have been the same tour in the late 70s, as the New Brubeck Quartet with his sons Darius, Dan, and Chris. It was a great show by a great artist.
