Work has transported me to the Phoenix metroplex, Glendale and Surprise to be exact.
What is happening here? People have told me it gets hot sometimes.
Do you guys in AZ have politics or guns?
Best BBQ - Joe’s Real BBQ in Gilbert.
A few pointers about AZ.
1) The capital is Phoenix, pronounced “Pee-nis”.
2) Four fashion accessories are mandatory: hat, sunglasses, shoes, and at least one gun.
3) Do not kick cacti, they will win. Especially jumping cactus. They will win and laugh at your pain.
4) It is not true that if you catch a Mexican, you can keep them. Because of Obama, AZ is now a catch and release state. There is also a bag limit except during armed robberies.
Fyi..check your car insurance about windshields. ..it a given in az that windshields don’t last..lot of little rocks on the roads that get kicked up
I spent 7 months in Tucson and it was HOT HOT HOT but I loved it- They told me Phoenix can be 10 degrees hotter- dont kn ow if I would have liked that, but I loved Tucson so much i am planning to retire there
or at least spend 6 months north and 6 months down there

Nice gear for fine wood.
Wife and I were after the fire wood variety today. Did about a month’s worth, then changed the oil, wiped down and put the splitter away.
OUT: Dark colored vehicle, untinted windows, vinyl upholstery, low ground clearance.
IN: Light colored vehicles (white), breathable fabric upholstery, 3M® window tinting at 33% VLT/35% Reflectivity all around under the manufacturer’s AS-1 line + full blackout rear windows, add windshield glass pitting/breakage coverage on your insurance policy, carry a pallet of Costco ‘Kirkland’-brand bottled water in the trunk + jumper cables. Car ought to be utterly reliable/low mileage and AWD/4x4 (I highly recommend Toyota FJ Cruiser or Tundra), ensure uninsured driver protection on your policy, never stop to help anyone broken down on the side of the road EVER.
Wife used her Cabella’s gift card to get a new short stock 20 ga. pump. So we are on the right track.
Sheriff Joe is my sheriff — that counts for something.
Thanks.
I will try Joe’s. Just keep in mind that in most regions of the country barbecue is a cuisine, a sauce, a method or a method to make poor meat paletible. In Kansas City it is a religion and a style.
Definitely add the window coverage on the car.
Ditto that. Honey Bears is good too!

Sheriff Joe’s real twitter.
And Don’t buy the Arizona Republic. Used to be a good paper 20 years ago. Now, it’s a left leaning, illegal immigrant promoting RAG that has a sister paper “La Voz”. Only difference is “La Voz” is in Spanish. Local News media also liberal and uses every chance to harass Joe and Jan Brewer. Pretty much every conservative in office is on their harass list.
One last thing. You said you are employed, Good. The Employment has gone from the “Silicon of the Desert” to hardly anything and I can’t find a job. Don’t want to relocate from my kids or the state I was born in. 4th Gen Arizonan.
I’m so jealous!
Hubby and I were talkin barbecue with the owner of our favorite Mexican restaurant in Tucson, and he told us to try Joe’s in Gilbert. There is no good barbecue in Tucson. We haven’t tried Joe’s yet.
A relative works the ADOT road crew on I-40. In the summer they go through a couple sets of boots. The asphalt literally melts the soles.
Then Imagine laying hot tar in July/Aug. And the boots are ALREADY melting BEFORE they start...
God Bless the Great Indoors ;)
Now you will have to share the name and location of that favorite Mexican restaurant you mentioned in Tucson.
Later we can compile a list for the whole state.
Go to Joe’s on the Free Customer Appreciation Day. Line goes real fast. You get a yummy BQ sandwich, beans, slaw and a drink.
The owner, Joe Johnson, also owns Liberty Market (across the street from Joe’s BBQ) which has Excellent Food.
Joe also owns Joe’s Farm Grill which also does a Free eatin’ day in November. This has excellent food also in a mini-farm atmosphere in the Agritopia subdivision in Gilbert. This eatery was featured on the Food Channel’s “Diners,Dives, and Driveins”.
Guedo’s Taco Shop is yummy for Ensenada type food.
