Are there any serious AK collectors on freerepublic? Ihave a couple nice pieces to list on GB and wondered of anyone could share their thoughts on the items and their history. The fist is my Milled Yugoslavian M70 underfolderthat I had rewelded from an excellent parts kit. The second is an unfired Russian tiger sniper rifle. Any thoughts on what they are worth?

Your Tigr is probably worth 2500 to 3000
The M70?
600 to 700

If the M70 is a kit it will err on the low side.

Tigr’s are very desirable and rare in the US

The sniper rifle is new and unfired and has the bag with separate pocket for the optics. That one is probably worth $4000 by now. The only signs of wear is on the side rail where the Russian scope was mounted. The m70 is probably only worth about a grand.

Social engineering?

Smart people don’t post their arsenals on public forums.

Matt Yeamans (Turbothis) built the yugo and it is nicely put together. The Tiger is truly unfired and is the gem in my safe. I was hoping to expect $4000 for it. If anyone can give a good approximate value, I can email pics of the rifle.

It sounds like the Tiger is the only rare item. I may just list it starting at $3000 With a $4000 buy it now option.

Hopefully two rifles aren’t considered as an arsenal.

It's spelled—and pronounced—Kalashnikov. (From Kalashnikova).

Is it the commercial hunting TIGR or one of the CA TIGRs that were completely dressed out as a military Dragunov? The California Armory version sells about a grand higher...

Extras and military conversion parts add to the price also as do spare mags.

A well build milled M70 should go higher the $600/$700. That is the going rate for the stamped receiver rifles.

I have a passion of collecting model tanks from every military on earth. I am especially fond of the German tanks, both present and past.

My goal is to build my own version of a Marauder or an urban assault vehicle, something that would have a devastating effect upon crowds. Might have a giant snow auger up front, microwave heat trasmitters and sound devices, a liquid spray system that would cause incessant sneezing, uncontrollable sneezing disables almost any person without killing them.

The frame and engine will eveolve from either a military HEMT or an airport fire truck, of which I see a few around here. Just have to install a remote tire inflation system and some ballistic armor, glazing and an air scrubber.

Its an inferior design. Why would I want them?

I will stick with the HK, which is based off of the old MG43.
You don’t have to sacrifice accuracy for reliability (as the AK does), you can add weight and price instead.

After getting out of the military, I wanted an Ak-47, AK-74, and a couple of AKM/S, SKS, and a Dragonov. Went to a local gun mecca and saw about 20 different mfg. picked up a century arms AK and it was a piece of crap. Same with 2 others. So walked out with a Tula SKS...the only "REAL" Russian Gounod out of 30 of them!!!

So out of my wish list above, what are the most desirable Title 1 firearm?

I am not familiar with the AK though I have taken apart an SKS, from my point of view if I had some basic machine shop equipment the SKS would be my choice to make from scratch from bare stock.

I would not even try to make an AR, even the Garand/M14 system would be a real challenge.

In Australia its nigh impossible to get any form of an AK, but you can make your own.

I do believe the general idea of making your own rifle or even a new design is beyond their current skill level in America, far too easy to just buy one.

But when you live somewhere where its not so easy to own, and you do posses the skills then you have the option to make something, or to improve on something.

My goal is to research all of the best designes, piston, op rods, gas fed or even multi barrels.

Myself I like the Saiga designs. I may work up a Saiga combo with a 5.7 (5nSeven) capability as well with an additional barrel.
