Things that don't add up... (CT shooting)

Posted on 12/14/2012 11:24:47 PM PST by djf

Now I've been watching this news for most of the day. Remarkably, it seems to change every few minutes.

First, we had the name change. Who exactly did the shooting? Ryan? Adam? Someone else?

Then, we hear that someone in camo garb or something was apprehended in the woods. When I first heard this, I assumed it was the brother and that was why there was confusion about the name.

But turns out that the brother was actually at work - and was not in the woods. So who was in the woods?

We hear that the mother is a teacher at the school. Then we hear that she was actually a teachers assistant. Then I see a brief interview with someone who DOES work at the school and who says "Nobody here every heard of her."

Then, tonight, she is reported as being unemployed.

First, the guns (which we have YET to get a clear description of the types and calibers) were stolen from the mother. Then, they were "legally purchased"... but no indication when or from where. Latest, a brief statement that they were "legally purchased with a license provided by a family member"... Now I'm not trying to label anybody here, but it sounds a little out of character that some suburban mom in small-town New England would have that many guns.

Huh?

The ONLY picture we have seen of this guy so far is an out-of-focus pic taken in 2005! 2005? He didn't have a drivers license? A girlfriend? I can't see how he might get a gun without some sort of valid photo id.

Last I heard, only three of the children made it to the hospital. If so, this would be a stunning percentage kill-ratio wise for the guy. In fact in most public shootings, the vast majority are wounded, but not killed. Did this guy have some kind of training?

Too many loose ends. The story keeps changing.

Am I the only one who is having trouble thinking that this was just some whacko dude who blew a fuse and started shooting?

...”My tin foil antenna hat says this is another set up to garner support for 2nd amendment repeal”...

Are you saying you think it is possible that someone in the anti-gun movement set up this massacre so that the government can possibly disarm America? I know those who want dictatorship are vicious and I know the press would cover any evidence of such a horrifically awful thing, but....

Warning signs, indeed.

And you’re of course right about cold-blooded Barry.

I am saying that it was already tried with the Fast and Furious operation.

They got an American Border Patrol agent killed and got many more innocent Mexican citizens killed in the name of banning certain firearms.

The press would not report it. They have not reported on the gun running to Mexico.

The liberals let the kooks out of the mental institutions and closed the mental hospitals. Now they are reaping what they have sewn...

There are many things that don’t add up and you have hit on a lot of them. But very sadly, even if we knew everything about everything, it wouldn’t lighten the load on our hearts tonight. All of the could-of’s, would-of’s, and should-of’s ultimately didn’t, so here we gather with broken hearts. How we address this is a question for tomorrow, tonight we just grieve and cry ourselves to sleep.

...”Pretty amazing isn’t it, considering he used a 9mm and supposedly had Asperger Syndrome. That and being from Connecticut, you wouldn't think he'd spent a lot of time at the range”...

Yes..We have a close friend whose 17 year old son has Asperger’s, and, all of this is remarkable considering what we know about him, his problems and his personality..It is hard to believe this person did all of the complex planning of this on his own if he had mental deficiencies..Also, though, medications or drugs of other kinds must be considered..He was 20 and we do live in a culture heavily saturated with drugs. Drug use in America may be the biggest threat to our safely and well being right now. They kill the lives, hopes and dreams of individuals and families every day and, for most, there is no cure. We have seen governments just days ago unleash marijuana on society. Another disgust for me in the light of the horrific murder of these innocents is the abortion industry which is supported by all of those who are coming out for the disarming of American citizens. What about those innocents? The litany of names blaming guns instead of looking at the true facts of this and other massacres is always the same. Americans will not give up their means of protecting themselves, especially against a hostile government which has now risen to a major danger in the minds of lots of people.

I’m calling it a night. I think the media are covering-up something or not properly investigating the shooter. I’ve only heard the one guy interviewed who said he tried to make friends with the shooter in high school to no avail. For such a small town that’s described as close knit, you’d think neighbors and former classmates would have been interviewed about the shooter, yet nobody’s come forward on TV? Very odd.

See you tomorry.

Wasn’t there seven adults killed and not one of them lived long enough to make it to the hospital? Maybe the details just haven’t come out, or maybe they never will?
*****************************************
Three were taken to hospitals. Two kids died there. The adult is still alive, as it was reported that she was shot in a foot or lower leg.

Yes, a day of sadness and confusion. Prayers up for the families, and for all of the other folks who are affected. For those who died, R.I.P.

There is an article over on the NYTimes now that does interview a number of neighborhood and class parents and kids:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/15/nyregion/adam-lanza-an-enigma-who-is-now-identified-as-a-mass-killer.html?ref=nyregion

Have a restful night’s sleep, if you can.

Wasn’t she was shot while holding the door closed? It’s possible she never saw the shooter, nor the shooter saw her other than he knowing someone was holding the door closed, probably put a few rounds through the door, guessing at their position.

...”God control is not working, and gun control won’t work unless guns can be made to automatically jump out of the hands of murderers and psychopaths.

We can easily fix God control.

Put God and prayer back in the classroom. Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

May God have mercy on the sweet souls of those poor children and may He hold their grieving families dear”...

My sister, who is a nurse, called last night very depressed over these sweet children. Worried about her and being a Christian myself, I fell back on what I know about my Lord and I envisioned a scene for her of all those sweet spirits rising together to meet Jesus, experiencing the joy they could never know is this world of struggle and heartache. Then I asked her to try to think of them as being in the arms of God and those they love who have gone before. The images seemed to help..When we deprive children of the hope we have as Christians, we rob them of any real peace they can have on the earth and any hope they can have of eternity when they leave. What our left wing government has done to our people through the stripping away of our Judeo-Christian values is unforgiveable.

Even in the midst of the tragedy, political correctness q.v.:

“The kids were being so good,” she said. “They asked, ‘Can we go see if anyone is out there?’ ‘I just want Christmas. I don’t want to die, I just want to have Christmas.’ I said, ‘You’re going to have Christmas and Hanukkah.’”

http://news.yahoo.com/routine-morning-then-shots-unthinkable-terror-034139544.html

and

“I thought we were all going to die,” she said through tears. “I told the kids I love them and I was so happy they were my students... I said anyone who believed in the power of the prayer, we need to pray and those who don’t believe in prayer” think happy thoughts.

Someone reported that he recognized and let the killer in. So now we have a report the he was in a meeting?
*********************************
The Principal was female. A couple of reports I heard during the day said that ALL of the faculty and staff were female. ....That would maybe be right, since the school only had students K through 4 (about 10 y/o).

...”It takes a truly delusional, unmerciful individual to ceremoniously shoot little children to death. It’s unimaginable”...

This unimaginable crime requires that a full, honest and TRANSPARENT explanation of everything which is discovered be made to the American people..Fat chance of that, though, in this age heavy with media propaganda. I talked to a Mother last night who is trying to shield her 12 yr. old from the news as she figures out how to tell her of this. Children all over America will be afraid to go to school. I do know that this 12 year old would be comforted if she could know that someone in the front office had the means to protect her at school should a criminal come in with intent to harm.

I agree.

It’s all this “self-esteem” bullshit and the seeming fact that we’re not willing to call a spade a spade.

Responsible gun owners have to be willing to admit that there are some people who should never have guns.

At the same time, libs, etc. have to admit that there are some people, who even if they never committed a crime in their life, should NOT be allowed to walk the streets, no matter what dam meds people can dream up, or what nice little diagnosis the APA can come up with.

AFAIK, Aspergers has at it’s very center a basis of anti-social behavior.

We may not like it, but we are in no way protected or advanced by hiding from it.
