How many of these Democrats did the NRA give money to and get re-elected?

Never mind the fact that the NRA goes into a hiding hole in the ground somewhere everytime there is a dust up, leaving 2nd Amendment Supporters and Law Abiding Gun Owners to fend for themselves, which brings the usual question around these times. Where is the NRA?

A more important question needs to be asked. As we see so-called "pro gun" Democrats warming up to tighter gun controls, according to reports, we may just see where are membership dues went to those who will not help. How many of these Democrats that will come out for gun control laws did the NRA give money to and help get re-elected? Most of us have had concerns with the way the NRA seems to eager to "negotiate" at times. Usually because it comes too close to giving up ground that should never be given up.

Many have the renewal forms coming in the mail. I'm sure many will be watching to see if they want to give any more to those who might actually work against the rights of gun owners/law abiding citizens.

From Harry Reid’s web site

Statement of Reid campaign manager Brandon Hall on NRA endorsement in Nevada US Senate race

“The NRA’s relationship with Sen. Reid has been long-standing and productive and – unlike for Sharron Angle – they’ve put their money where their mouth in this cycle. Along with their financial support, the declaration of NRA head Wayne LaPierre that Sen. Reid is ‘a true champion of the Second Amendment’ and that ‘no one has been a stronger advocate for responsible gun ownership than him’ shows beyond a doubt that the NRA believes Sen. Reid to be a strong advocate for Nevadans’ Second Amendment rights in the US Senate.”

Harry Reid statement today

Former NRA Endorsee Harry Reid Hints at Gun Control

“Every idea must be on the table” with respect to preventing another tragedy like the one that killed 20 children and seven adults, the Nevada Democrat suggested... “We need to accept the reality that we are not doing enough to protect our citizens.”

Joe is no hero of mine and I never heard of him till you brought him up.

So ... you have no reason to defend the NRA's rather poorly reasoned decision to endorse him. He simply DID NOT deserve an A+ rating, DID NOT deserve a glowing endorsement, and John Raese DID NOT deserve to be ignored.

An "A" rating for both candidates, and a "no endorsement: they both look good" would have been a better, wiser, more honest decision by the NRA.

IMO, the NRA saw an opportunity for a cheap "win", by falling all over and kissing the arse of a 'Rat politician who was rather likely to win anyway. Problem is, by doing so they tarnished their name, tarnished their endorsements, offended pro-gun folks in WV ... and gained nothing.

I’m not even gonna talk to you about the US Senate

That's probably a good idea ... until you can admit that endorsing "Assault Weapons Ban" democRats is a bad idea, you really have nothing to say.

“So what happened to the page?”

Well, that is pretty weird. If you notice in the statement, they don’t say they received the endorsement, just financial support.

I don’t know why the link isn’t working. Found it through yahoo search...tried to repost it..just doesn’t want to work.

Manchin would have been elected with or without the NRA’s endorsement. Raese never had a prayer in W.V.-not against Byrd, not against Manchin, not against Rockefeller, and not against Moore. The NRA’s endorsement, however, ties to Manchin a pro-gun constituency that he must consider. backing an inevitable loser gets you nothing. backing an inevitable winner gets you something at least. it made perfect sense.

See my prior post to the ArmyBrat. This statement was created prior to the NRA withdrawing its support of Reid back in August, 2010...........

“This statement was created prior to the NRA withdrawing its support of Reid back in August, 2010...........”

Well, going through all those news releases is like walking through a mine field. The Reid Campaign was vicious.

Like I said, that release doesn’t say that the NRA endorsed him. But, it clearly states financial support and a long running relationship of support.

I bet this statement will evaporate soon. I thought it already had disappeared.

No they won’t .
They didn’t back down on the fist AWB . The NRA, like the Republicans, know if they go along with the knee-jerk reactions for more gun control, it will be the end of them .

If anything , it’s time to give the NRA more money because they have some huge battles ahead . It would also be wise to call or write to our incoming members of the new congress to make our voice heard .

Quit bashing the NRA , they are not hiding . They are being media savvy and are being respectful in this emotional time . They are letting the dust settle and emotions calm .

They are also gearing up for what will be the greatest assault on the Second Amendment ever .

It’s time to join the NRA or give them more money if already a member , they will need it .
It’s also time to call or write our existing or newly incoming Senators and Reps and let our voices be heard .

Good, I think the GOA is more active as I have sent more faxes to my elected representatives through them than the NRA.
