Yes, its what I meant to do.

Why? Are you unable to discuss questionable content on a conservative site without yelling for the mods?

If you start with a .44 will you end up with a bazooka?

Let everyone carry a S&W .44 Mag on the hip for 10 hours a day for thirty days.

At the end you will be glad for the tiny Beretta.

I continue to be amazed that most men (and possibly women) think that the larger the caliber your gun the safer you are and the more likely you are to destroy your enemy.

I would say "True" but only if you are 10 to 20 feet apart and you have a good bead on your enemy and they are not equally prepared.

I say instead that a smaller rifle (yes - a 22 with 40 grain hollow point Long Rifle) is more accurate, more effective if stopping the enemy is your goal, for with a 22 LR you are many time less likely to be pinpointed due to the report of your shot is almost impossible to pinpoint when out in the open.

On the other hand, a large caliber rifle would easily draw return fire due to the loud report being SO easily to determine.

A 22 LR kicks up no dust from it's concussive report that the higher caliber shows clearly.

A 22 LR flash is just about impossible to sight day or night. A high caliber pinpoints you quickly and will draw immediate return fire.

A 22 LR is lighter and easier to transport in an emergency whereas a large caliber is twice or greater to transport to a safer position.

A 22 LR has less kick and allows faster re sighting and re-firing onto your target or to another target. A large caliber is not so forgiving.

As for myself I will carry a 22 LR with high grain hallow point and a large caliber pistol for those times when I am face to face and need power and not anonymity in the field of fire.

I find no need of bravado. I seek survival and effectiveness instead.

NOTE: Have your actually compared the physical effect of a 22 LR heavy load. You MIGHT just be surprised.

Do you have a holster for that 22LR rifle, or is that a 22LR pistol? Are you suggesting that a S&W M&P 15-22 is as mean as it looks? More ammo for Pelosi, et al.... ;>)

No. Actually I also carry a Bareta 25 caliber pistol in addition to my other Bareta 9mm.

One has to know which weapon to use - (and when).

Smith & Wesson is definitely a mean looking pistol, no doubt.

Ease of use in a variety of situations and environments does not make it the ideal self defense weapon.

Think of actual environmental situations and vary your source(s) of defense accordingly.

Not all of your needs for self defense are limited to the interior of your house or from the interior of your vehicle.

Additional note.

a good shiv is also a necessary and time and situation may save your life in times when other weponos are not quite as effective. I carry one plus a Swiss Army knife AND a toolman.

I have 2 .22 mag rifles and a .22 mag pistol. I love them. Also have about 1500 rounds that cost 1/3 as any large caliber rifle.
