At least one group, called Defense Distributed, is claiming to have created downloadable weapon parts that can be built using the increasingly popular new-generation of printer that utilizes plastics and other materials to create 3-D objects with moving parts. University of Texas law student Cody Wilson, the 24-year-old “Wiki Weapons” project leader, says the group last month test fired a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle—one of the weapon types used in the Connecticut elementary school massacre—which was built with some key parts created on a 3-D printer. Right now, most people interested in 3-D printing rent time on one. There are a number of businesses and co-ops in major cities that allow access to the machines for a nominal fee. Centuries ago, I had a contract with a Honeywell facility in Massachusetts to clean all the flourescent fixtures and replace the bulbs.

To this day, I remember when I was in the machine department, the smallest of lathes and such with projects in them, waiting for tomorrow (I worked at night when no one was there)

Now that I think of it, I was an honest young man in a world that trusted people back then.

I don't even know if Honeywell is still around, but I remember being in a macjine shop that seemed to be set up for miniaturization.

I built the equipment and did the setups for running mass manufacturing of pultruded fiberglass hollow planks which were then filled with cleaned shredded tire rubber, and these planks were built into panels for sound suppression for CALTRANS. They are now along the freeways in California, I built the original equipment.
But I spent 10 months working with a vertical mill and other machine shop equipment getting the design bugs out on the concept, I actually drew most of the plans on bar napkins, this was back in 1994.

That’s what I thought! I haven’t watched that much coverage on TV because I don’t believe most of what they say anyway but I saw a report where they were saying the shooter (whoever it really was) used two or three handguns and the AR-15 was found in the car trunk. Then I see this idiot Pears Moreguff or whoever he is claiming that the AR-15 was the favorite weapon of mass killers and that is what was used at Sandy Point.

This article is a libtard peeing their panties fact-free, that's all. All that can be printed on the 3D printer is the receiver and some of the trigger group parts. You still have to have a forged/machined upper, barrel, bolt, cam, and carrier. Yeah, you could improvise something smoothbore, but it wouldn't be very accurate.

But of course, libtards have never touched an AR-15, much less know how one works. I and many other FReepers, on the other hand, have built our own up from parts, and have intimate knowledge of how they work.

As expected, the buffer tube mount broke loose from the receiver as a result of the off-axis stress from the recoil. They are already working on beefing that part of the receiver up.

I’m waiting for the 2X as it will also allow ABS :) Supposed to be out soon and while the 2 is around $2400 I’m expecting the 2X to run just a bit more with the added ability. Can’t wait.
