For years, I had an old Craftsman bungalow with a big front porch. I'd sit out front every night with a glass in my hand, enjoying my street, greeting the neighbors as they walked their dogs.
Friends would see me and stop over, sitting in one of the wicker chairs I provided. Pretty soon, there'd be a gathering. I'd put on some music and a bottle would be opened.

Its snowing here right now but we’ve only got about an inch on the ground.
My front porch faces the lake but I can sit on mine any time of the year because its enclosed and consists of sliding glass doors all around.

The writer makes a very good point. If people are outside in the afternoon/evening , it’s out back on the deck while the world passes by in the front.I suppose a porch and a deck will be in my lottery winning remodeling plans

We have a front porch and a back porch but when it is porch weather the mosquitos take it over.
