ESPN reporting Whisenhunt and Graves (GM) out in AZ.

Never really believed in firing both at once. If you’re firing the GM you’re pretty much admitting the personnel decisions were bad, blaming the coach for losing with bad players doesn’t seem right.

On the other hand maybe we’ll bring Ken back to Pitt. The team dropped the ball a lot less when he was in town.

That’s very serious. Can’t understand why they are keeping Ryan.
The Jets must take their fans for suckers.

Teams spend too much on new “talent”. There should be a federally-imposed pay cap on all professional sports players, to accompany a federally imposed league minimum (leagues already have the latter due to collective bargaining), and teams/leagues that want to opt out of those would be required to immediately pay for the taxpayer-funded stadiums and arenas they play in — the entire cost, not just what is still owed on them.

Heh heh... that’s one consequence of becoming rich by being born that way. I’d rather have the Jags’ muzzie owner than either one.

Ryan was pretty open about being reluctant on the Tebow experiment over the summer. It was the GMs idea. The GM picked up the wildcat QB and the wildcat OC and gave Sanchez a big raise (should have been fired just for that), so he’s out. This gives Ryan basically 1 year to right the ship, with Sanchez because they’ve got no good way to dump him.

And kudos for posting what is turning out to be a hell of a bitter non-political topic. It could almost be a GGG topic about millions-years-old fossils, or an X-Planets topic about an Earth-sized world 1300 light years away. ;’)

And don’t forget couches — coaches, even bad coaches, sell couches. ;’)

> At least do away with spot of foul, make it 15 yards and auto first. A 45 yard penalty is ridiculous and a game changer.

That’s a great idea, seriously, not least (and as you said), it goes on all the time but only gets called (and remains very much a judgment call) once in a while.

Tebow was screwed by Denver — but look at where Denver is thanks to Manning — and screwed again by the Jets. Any idea why they’re holding on to him?

That has nothing to do with the play of Sanchez.
Tebow only played about 75 plays the entire year.

Mike Tannenbaum has to go. Jets traded away players that they need right now...Brad Smith, Leon Washington, Jericho Cotchery, and cut Danny Woodhead.
I thin Ryan has earned one more year but he better win. With his job on the line, perhaps he will move Sanchez and look to the draft. (Ryan Nassib, Syracuse!!)

>>I’d like to see Jason Garrett gone. He can take Romo with him. Better yet, can we tar and feather Jones outta Texas? He’s been a blight on Texas for 20-some years.<<

Jones thinks everyone in Dallas is Dora from “Finding Nemo” — “Oh look, a shiny bauble (The JJ monument to himself Stadium)! No one will ever notice the crap team on the field!”

You would think he wold have learned from Al Davis (who I think is still running the Raiders from the grave).

Tebow wasn’t screwed by anybody. Given the fact that he was 3rd on the depth chart in Denver and they let him start anyway that was pretty generous. Then they got a chance to get a QB that can win games AND complete passes and they took in. If anybody got screwed in NY it was Sanchez who suddenly had to deal with an offense that involved pulling him out of the game at random intervals and screwing up his already delicate rhythm.

They’re holding onto him now because the trade deadline was in early November and trades aren’t allowed again until after the Super Bowl. They did trade away 2 draft picks to get him so I don’t see them dumping him on the waiver wire unless they absolutely have to. The question is who is going to bother to pay anything for a player that’s not actually good at his job and his current team clearly doesn’t want him. Especially with the Jags picking second (that also puts them second on the waiver wire). With the team most likely to pick him up in a position to get him for the waiver fee I don’t see the Jets getting anything in trade for him.

[singing] Lovie’s gone, one more round, Lovie’s gone...

He’ll get a few interviews and be hired, somewhere, and his new team will stick it up Chicago’s ass.

Actually it did have to do with the play of Sanchez. Football is a rhythm oriented game, swapping QBs around mid game disrupts their rhythm. Look at what happened in that last MNF game. Took Sanchez until the 3rd quarter to complete 2 passes in a row, then on the next play they put in Tebow, offsides on the defense, put Sanchez back in for a 1st and 5, incomplete, incomplete, sack. That was the Jets season in a nutshell “oh look Sanchez might be on rhythm let’s put in Tebow”.

Most of those were to be expected, but Lovie Smith getting fired after going 10-6? That’s rough.
