Ted Turner was transformed from a staunch conservative into a bleeding-heart liberal by none other than one-time wife Jane Fonda, according to the media mogul’s outspoken son.

But when the senior Turner moved to the left and then expressed an interest in running for president, Fonda deep-sixed the idea by saying she’d dump him, Teddy Turner told Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.”

“I was raised in a different time at the Turner household … a very conservative household with capitalism and all of that kind of stuff,” Turner said. …

I grew up in the 80’s so when I hear the name Jane Fonda, I picture all kinds of bad ideas that festered throughout the 70’s- like fondue, disco, and peter pan collars. No one has fondue parties today. No one went out this afternoon and bought a brand new fondue set and an Abba CD. So why are people still going around spouting Jane Fonda's failed liberal mantras? Did it seem cool in the 70’s to be a disco-loving, peter pan collar wearing, fondue-eating commie traitor? Well, the 70’s are over. Disco is dead. And smart people stopped smoking the monkey grass and became productive, happy, well-ajusted Conservatives. Jane should be tossed out like green shag carpet.

I’d be willing to bet that leftism wouldn’t be the only bad thing one could get from that woman.

Anyone who watched the old TBS SuperStation in the late 70s and early 80s would remember that it leaned conservative.....you surely did not put liberal pablum on a station that was on every cable outlet in the south. I even remember TBS SuperStation did their own sitcoms like Down To Earth (about an angel sent to help a family...a very family friendly show). Even CNN had a Christian themed show (Good News I think was the title). Yes at one time Ted Turner was not the UN loving Liberal Globalist he is today

Teddy, your daddy was a liberal long before he latched onto Jane Fonda.

Hate to tell you, but about 5 years ago fondue came back in style for a while. The trendy foodie magazines ran with it and before you knew it, the stores were filled with those melted cheesey/chocolate things. It died out pretty quickly, though.

The one with meat was pretty popular or a good while then prime cuts went to $18 a pound ~ meatballs are no substitute, I can tell you that.

Ted may not have always been a liberal. I can’t speak to that. But I do think he has always been a nut. I think he was a liberal-in-waiting.

At the very least, he hated Christianity before he met Jane Fonda. There are stories about him making fun of Christians and being hostile to Christians in the workplace long before he met Fonda.

Cannot forget the polyester clothes including leisure suits, the much hated 55 mph speed limit, and Jimmy Carter. Oh, forgot inflation which ha made a comeback once again now that we are in Jimmy Carter’s 3rd term.

> Well, the 70’s are over.

My bucket list only has one item. That’s to piss on Jane Fonda’s grave.

The sad thing about Jane Fonda is that I believe her liberalism is all she has left. Her career is basically dried up with only the token picture once every few years, which in reality doesn’t do much at the box office. Family, ??? never see or hear about her children. Do they even associate with her? As for her youth and beauty, both have faded because no matter how wealthy or how many hours of exercise she puts in, she can’t outrun the aging process.

My distaste for Ms. Fonda is not her liberalism; it’s what she did in Viet Nam while my cousin was fighting that war and eventually dying over there. After her famous visit and more famous photo, she should have had her passport taken away and refused entry back into the United States.

Fonda was never a 'liberal.' She was a hard-core Commie in the 60s and still is today.

People like LBJ and Hubert Humphrey were 'Liberals' back then. People like Fonda hated both of them.
