California is the first place I ever saw wild turkeys that were hit by cars. If the state stupidity standards hold, most of those coyotes probably already fell prey to ACME^tm portable holes...

The hell they can’t fly... I’ve seen them fly fair distances fine. I shot one on the wing with a deer rifle many moons ago (and it was a neck shot, so it didn’t just explode :-)).

Yes, they fly ...not what I'd call *graceful*....but they fly quite well for all that weight....for their purposes [to roost.] :)

I used to work with two turkey hunters. One described elaborate, time-consuming schemes to trap the wily birds. He said the elaborate schemes usually failed because the birds were so smart.

I asked the other guy how he went about his turkey hunting. "You walk right up to them and shoot them" he responded with a laugh. According to the second co-worker, turkeys are too stupid to be afraid of people with guns.
