Woman claims dog that bit her daughter is racist

A woman has complained that a dog that bit her daughter is racist.

Pam Nkosi of Honeydew, north of Johannesburg, South Africa, said a bull terrier ran into her garden and bit her seven-year-old daughter while she played with other children.

‘I feel that the dog is racist,’ Ms Nkosi reportedly said. ‘The way it behaved. It shows that it was not familiar with other races.’

She claimed that the dog’s owner, named as Sean Norman, had not visited her after the incident nor offered to pay her daughter’s hospital bills.

Animal welfare inspector Tarryn Smith could not comment on the allegation of racism but did explain that ‘domestic animals behave differently because of their upbringing’.

Local police meanwhile confirmed the case was being investigated.

Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said: ‘The investigating officer is currently obtaining statements after which the case docket will be handed in for a decision at the Roodepoort magistrate’s court.’

You might be onto something...

My shepherds love the old white conservative Presbyterian guy next door, but can’t wait to take a bite out of the Cuban Obama fanatics on the other side of us....

Goooood Doggies :-)

Jameson Parker, the cute brother from Simon and Simon played in that film, too. I guess he had to start somewhere.

I had a racist dog when I was growing up. Never really understood it. Dee Dee was an Austrailian Shepard who absolutely hated black folk. It took a long time for her to accept one of my best friends at the time who lived a couple of blocks down from us. She didn't really care much for hispanics either. To my knowledge, she never bit anyone, but she was really protective of everyone in my family. The only thing that makes sense about it to me is that it was a scent thing.

Obviously the dog needs sensitivity training.

You are absolutely correct. Dogs are pack animals and if the human members of their pack are white they don't like black people and vise versa.

Yep. Ship that dog off to an internment camp for deprogramming.

Or let’s not, and say we did.

The accuser is such a “maroon” that she would never know anyway.

Not too shocking. Dogs are like humans and go by what they’re used to, what they know. They’re not stupid; they notice differences. Just like us.

I, too, have heard of this happening but not sure of the explanation of why it happens. Perhaps if the person is very dark skinned it confuses the dogs, don’t know....

My daughter’s Chihuahua doesn’t like anybody much, but he really, really doesn’t like black people. Or Mexicans, ironically enough.

I have two Aussies and they dislike anyone that doesn’t match their pack specifications. Considering my neighborhood, that’s probably a good thing!
