Whiskey Ends Up in Sewer (Chivas Plant)
UPI ^ | March. 1, 2013

Sewage workers in Scotland say they got a whiff of high-end whiskey after thousands of gallons of the amber liquid accidentally went down a drain.

The Chivas Brothers distillery in Dumbarton dumped the beverage in a mix-up at the plant, the Glasgow (Scotland) Evening News reported Friday.

Sewage workers contacted the water utility after they detected an aroma they weren't accustomed to smelling at the plant.

The distillery called the incident an "accidental loss."

That is some serious alcohol abuse.

All involved should be required to attend and successfully complete counseling ... /S

Chivas? Thank Heaven it wasn’t whiskey. (As I sit sipping a nice pour of Pappy Van Winkle)

Well, at least it wasn’t a batch of Wild Turkey that was lost. I don’t know that I could have survived news like that!

Some people like Scotch whiskey, some like bourbon, some, Canadian, some gin, some Irish and some blends. Thankfully we don't all like the same.

I like to sip scotches, not the sweet whiskey blends.
Hey, more whiskey for you, right?

I can’t afford to buy much Chivas.
Now I guess I won’t be able to afford to buy it for several years!

Roger that.

Chivas is very smooth but does not have a distinct flavor or aroma that appeals to real whiskey drinkers.

A single malt or some blends like Jameson's are whiskey. Chivas is not whiskey but what happened is still tragic.

The fish in the River Clyde were pleased!

Yes sonny. In my younger days I was a sales rep for a large beer, wine and liquor distributor. We didn't handle Chivas. We had Johnnie Walker, J&B, Teachers, Ushers, Famous Grouse, Something Special, Grants, 100 Pipers, Glenlivet, White Horse and Ballantines.

And then there are probably a few of us who, under the right circumstances, would drink most anything, at least once, just because we don’t want to be known as a picky guest when drinking at our friend’s homes.

I always prided myself on keeping my friends favorite brands on hand, except for beer. No rice beer.
