Camels in Canada? What will they think of next...
Collagen degrades rather quickly. That hints at a younger age than I would expect.

I was thinking it was interesting there is fear regarding the climate warming when here is proof it used to be warm in cold areas.
Bacterian camels (two humped, as shown above) still live in very cold, extreme, semi-arctic conditions, in central Asia.
It is a known fact that Siberia went from tropical to sub arctic in a matter of days or even hours.
Look at the planet and you will note that the region you are referring is just opposite the Siberian region where Mammoths froze to death (relatively - instantly.
Take Camels from the tropics and move them instantly into a much cooler climate than they normally habituate and most would die. They were adapted for much warmer climates.
Many would have migrated south and reestablished their species in warmer climate and that is if they immediately wondered in the correct direction to allow for survival.
It was speculated that the earths crust rotated due to glacial imbalance at either (or both) north and south poles. The entire earths crust shifted and Antarctic moved to the S Pole.
There are prehistoric maps that show what is now the Antarctic was located more where central to lower Africa is now. There are trees under the ice and animals that could only have existed in such a climate but are now buried for many centuries (about 10).
ALSO note that about that time the Great Flood occurred which is logical because BOTH North & South poles would have almost immediately melted causing the entire planets ocean to rise.
It would have taken a few centuries for both poles to rebuild glaciers substantial enough to gradually lower the ocean level to where it is now. (More or less).
Quick note. The rotation of the earths crust would have affected Siberia more severely than what is now Canada.
Africa and Australia would have become warmer and I understand from scientists that there is strong indication that this is just the case.
We are fortunate that the arrangement of our continents at this point is more balanced and is therefore more likely to remain stable.
More like victims of a pole shift (Noah's flood?). They lived in a warm climate one minute, and were freeze dried the next.
A pole shift would also explain why they found fresh green grass in the stomachs of woolly mammoths buried in the ice.
Even Bactrian camels would find a colder climate that was even more than they could stand. That is why they could more easily migrate out of their situation than the Mammoths didn’t have the more moderate deterioration of their climate.

We raise alpacas. The critters in the picture look more like alpaca faces than camel faces to me. The little one off to the right even loks like he’s wearing a halter. Although I must admit, I’d hesitate to take him into the show ring...
