Cat cuddles are the best medicine! Just ask Nellie, a senior dog who was rescued by Animal Friends of Japan back in November.
According to the organizations Facebook page, Nellie had been lying by the side of the road for two days before she was found and rescued. We gave her a bath and discovered she had badly infected wounds on her leg and stomach. We think she was hit by a car, the page explains.
Shelter vets went about working on Nellies wounds and nursing her back to health. But some other new friends also felt they needed to assist in her recovery. A couple of resident cats at the shelter took it upon themselves to snuggle up to Nellie, giving her some much needed comfort.
Apparently some other cats didnt want to be left out and also joined the snuggle fest. Soon there was always several different cats cuddled up with Nellie!
The shelter reported that Nellie was well on her way to recovery and, even better, on her way to her forever home with a couple happy and willing to take in the sweet senior dog.

Poor dog, she had to suffer that indignity. She obviously knew she was outnumbered and thus had no choice...........

Nellie was probably running a fever and the cats snuggled up to her for warmth.

Cat lover here but my theory is that they are waiting for her to die. Yum Plus, she probably was running a fever and so was toasty warm.

Yup, and different kitties have different purrs. I characterize those of my cats according to what engine they sound like. Apple sounds like a Harley V-twin, Patch sounds like a BMW straight-6, and Monkey sounds like a small-block Ford with really hot cams. When you pick Monkey up, you can FEEL her purring!

Cats are exceptional animals in many ways.
In this context, cats make more friends outside its species than anybody.
And I mean besides befriending us and dogs.
They make friends with a lot of species, maybe because of their chutspah?
And certainly if the other animal isn't threatening.
If that's true we should all be cats.

These pics and stories are a great reminder that one day, it will always be like this for all animals.
It is going to be a wonderful day when this is the norm.
