So... is this real, or not? Update: My sarcastic skepticism aside, it seems real.
It could be fake in two ways: First, they were just having us on and meant to be silly, so the joke's partly on us.
Second, they were having us on, and also, it's not from the 80s, but from like three months ago.
Their website claims, again, it was shot in 1986 (but MTV refused to air it, the dastards) and even runs some suspiciously cleanly digital pictures from their 1986 photo shoot. Because, you know. Everyone has pictures from 1986 lying around.

The teeth look like the coloring is natural which would indicate it was done before 1990.

I call fake. Some of those dance moves were not around in the 80’s and they could not have added the birds teeth back then. The process would have been so time consuming and not worth the effort. Also culturally that crotch shot of one of the dancers would not have been done. Not in a karate promo.
Hand held wireless mics in 1986? I am dubious. Back then the technology available from companies like Shure required a pack to be worn that was the transceiver. The mic itself was wired to the pack that was about the size of two decks of cards.
That was... weird..
