Gregory Grice was 16-years-old, but smart enough to carry a copy of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority when he ventured to a New York train station to take some photos in 2011.

But that didn’t stop police from arresting him while calling him a terrorist.

It was enough to make the teenage railfan cry.

Neither the Greenburgh police officer who handcuffed him nor the MTA officer who transported him to the station bothered to read the part in the handbook that states photography of trains is allowed.

Now Grice is suing the MTA as well as Greenburgh Police Department and two other agencies that responded to the incident.

I agree! And we should see more prosecutions for this sort of BS. On the other hand I sure we’ll see more of the “He was shot in the back fifteen times while trying to escape.”

Where is Willie Green?

I’m riding a train now! (Taxpayers subsidize me for >$20,000 per year.)

People really like their Choo Choos!

If the kid had a middle eastern name and was stopped, he would have been let go - the train police would have been afraid of being called racist.

As a railfan raising railfans... the MTA overreacted....

A lot of teenagers aren't into trains which is a shame.

Good for him. There’s way too much knee jerk reaction with the police, TSA, schools, etc. these days.

I see that there are still outbreaks of “Dr. David Banneritis”, where others observe an individual minding his own business, and cannot resist the impulse to attack and abuse them.
