What are Benefit Corporations?

A Capitol follower who happened to be at a hearing on HB 2318 in Salem had their interest piqued when they heard Democrats pushing Benefit Corporations, and dancing around the questions being asked.

A 2011 article in left-leaning The Nation magazine described Benefit Corporations as having “the purpose of making a ‘positive impact on society and the environment,’” “Benefit Corporations can’t be held liable by courts for failing to place profits over everything else. This is an important shift in law.”

I hadn't heard of Benefit Corporations before, but this is apparently something the leftists are beginning to push all over the country. Can't be good for our side.

Just another example of crony capitalism. Or as Ayn Rand would say looters.

How are they different from Non-Govermental Organizations (NGOs)?

Sounds like a Benefit Corporation is where the people who own and work for the corporation are slaves to members of the ruling class oligarchy who decide what the corporation should sacrifice "for the greater good."

The "greater good" is anything that benefits the ruling class oligarchy.

You could only get low brain function Progressives to invest in a corporation like that. The top management siphons off big salaries, benefits and other perks while the investors earn nothing and workers toil for slave wages but with the knowledge that they are benefiting the collective.

Appears to be a new type of corporation with special tax laws, etc. They must be “validated” by entities like B Lab, which confirm that the corporation is “progressive.”

This ensures that Leftist corporations get special rights.

NGOs have already made wastelands of an enormous number of Republican-majority counties and have turned local Republican politicians far to the left. The consequences of their activities remove all hope in what little remains of the small-business private sector.

They may not be all evil as some propose it seems that coops such as power or water coops would meet the definition as well.

My guess is it is a twist on the GM and Ford VEBA ( research it ) but by the virtue of their tight-lipped-ness, something in that model has changed and it stinks... Look into it...
