Massachusetts police pepper sprayed and arrested a man for video recording them after they ordered him to walk away.
Then they spent the next several minutes handcuffing and stuffing him inside a police car while a woman who repeatedly identified herself as an attorney recorded it all.
The incident took place in a bar district in Northampton. And the video was uploaded today. Other than that, there is not much information available other than the following brief description:
Northampton, MA police arrest an innocent black man outside of Tully OReillys for no reason. All he did was take out his phone to start recording the police. He did not fight back, did not resist, but was pepper-sprayed and slammed onto the ground and arrested.
The video starts off with some type of police action across the street. Cops look as if they have made some arrests but the suspects are sitting on a sidewalk and everything appears to be under control.
Then we see a man standing in front of the officers, appearing to hold up a camera, which is when several officers storm up to him and order him to walk away.

In a few more years, it’s going to be very hard to find a place that’s not under video observation anywhere in any city.
Enterprising individuals will be able to send small video UAVs out at a moment’s notice.
Short of forcing the registration and licensing of every camera, I don’t see how they can get around this.
The LEOs are going to have to learn to live with constant surveillance. Just like the rest of us.
There is one key word in the story that should make the reverends al and jessee take notice. And it’s not “innocent.”
They need to put these cops in jail for this crap. If we did that to someone videoing us we’d go to jail.
I think I just found my retirement plan. Go out and video police. If I survive I should be able to sue for my retirement.
Racists?....
I really need a new car and have some bills to pay; which MA police station would I need to drive to for pepper spraying? I’ll supply the video recorder and attorney.
yeah but she’s a lawyer don’t $#!@ with her.
Thug cops that need an ass wuppin.
I think its good that cops are being video taped and I don’t think it should be restricted, but as a nation, we have to grow up and be more mature about what we see on some of these tapes. In some cases, the cops go too far, but in other cases, hitting the alleged criminal or beating him down, or several cops taking him down, is what is required. Cops using more force than necessary can be appropriate too to reduce the risk of cops getting hurt. There are no easy answers and cops do overreact at times, but not every recording of a cop hitting someone or a group of cops taking someone down is evidence of abuse.

Sooner or later these thugcops are going to screw with the wrong person.
yeah they do that, and a cop gets hurt and then 1000 cops hunts the person down and burns them alive.
Well they have been sued and lost. Of course the city pays and any discipline is left to the police and not the city so the cops never feel the pinch.
What I take from this is, right or wrong, if some angry cops tell me to walk away I am gone baby. My momma didn’t raise no fool. If you want to vieeo cops that’s what telephoto lens are for.
He is lucky.
The cops in Massachusetts are real killers.
“Racists?....”
Nah, racists are only in the South. Didn’t you know that?
Well, good thing only the cops have guns.
(yes, sarcasm)
I suspect that’s the only language those police would understand.
