Well, now because of “Cake Boss” the NYC tourists take the Path Train over. He is now selling cakes at 44th St Times Square location.

My sister lived in Hoboken for awhile in the 80s and said the bakery has really gone down hill when it got “ famous”

If you want “celebrity” cakes, there is a cupcake place in Princeton that won a cupcake show on TV and their cupcakes are yummy

Hard to believe, right? But the bakery is only a few blocks from the PATH train to midtown Manhattan, and maybe some of them will roam around looking for Sinatra's birthplace or something.

I drove past there every day for a couple weeks when I was dropping my son off at a summer program at Stevens Institute a few blocks away. That summer we had an incredible heat wave, and people were lined up a block away, waiting who knows how long to get in. (At least there was some shade on the next block, but it was still too hot.)

Downtown Pittsburgh is just a zoo where the animals roam free.

I made a cake last night. Cheap store brand devil’s food mix, a couple eggs, a can of sauerkraut and a tub of marshmallow stuff. No train ticket and no standing in line. Yep, I said sauerkraut. Makes it super moist but doesn’t taste like kraut. Yum, good stuff! Having a piece now for breakfast. Family devoured it and only two pieces left. I’ll put it up against any of Duff’s cakes.

This city is becoming more & more like a small-scale Chicago every day, with the city gov corruption, filthy in police dept, and citizens who behave like wild animals.

I just try to go back & forth to work and otherwise stay home. Disgusting.

Many years ago, I would do the whole recipe from scratch thing but it’s easier and just as good to use a box mix. Use any dark chocolate (must be dark choc) mix like devil’s food and follow the directions on the back. Then add a can of sauerkraut that has been rinsed and drained. Slightly squeeze out any excess water and chop up any large pieces. Bake as directed. It doesn’t need a frosting. It’s really moist and doesn’t taste like sauerkraut. Of course, it’s denser and heavier.

I also make a chocolate beet cake that has a can of pureed beets (not the pickled type but the regular type beets). Everyone knows about carrot cake but there are lots of other veggies that can be used in cakes.
