Gwyneth Paltrow's [cookbook] "It's All Good" bashed by critics

Gwyneth Paltow's new cookbook has been slammed by critics who have branded the actress out of touch for featuring recipes that could cost around $300 a day to feed a family.

The Oscar winner's latest culinary guide, It's All Good, was released in the U.S. last week, but has been criticized for offering recipes which include ingredients such as duck eggs and costly Manuka honey.

One critic at Yahoo.com estimated it would cost around $300 a day to feed a family based on a selection of Paltrow's recipes, while Eater.com's Raphael Brion writes, "It's All Good is drenched in a chatty faux-populism that could only come from a rich person fearlessly boasting about her life of privilege."

The book has been labelled a "Bible of laughable Hollywood neuroticism" by Esther Zuckerman from The Atlantic Wire, and the New York Post's Hailey Eber likens the book to a "manifesto to some sort of creepy healthy-girl sorority".

The Shakespeare In Love star previously came under fire last month when she detailed her spring wardrobe essentials on her lifestyle blog Goop.com. The total price of the outfits featured came to more than $450,000.

Hey, rich people have to eat, too!

And who says you can afford the ingredients from most Food Network chefs?

I’m sure she’s a despicable liberal, but she can cook for me anytime.

HaHa! I truly appreciate that the critics are ripping this witch’s cookbook to shreds. Hopefully it will bomb in sales. For sure, I’d never buy one, just like I don’t watch her films. Yuck.

What gets me is she names this club or newsletter she has "Goop". Does she realize "Goop" is the stuff mechanics use to clean their hands? It's been around like a billion years?

Well, I have no idea what Manuka honey is, but one of my sons has been raising ducks, and taking the excess eggs into town to sell them. So we pretty much have duck eggs whenever we want.

This is how most Hollywood stars live and act.

It is probably a great book. Nevertheless, she should fire her publicist for letting her write it.

I doubt Gwyneth Paltrow has ever paid for a single item of clothing. And I doubt she has any idea what a duck egg --let alone a gallon of milk costs. She has housekeepers who do her shopping.

LOL Couldn’t happen to a nicer snob. I wouldn’t buy it if it was the only cookbook out there.

Duck eggs are strong-tasting, we used whipped cream to scramble them with. Highly nutritious and about 1.5 the size of a jumbo chicken.

I’ll read any cookbook, even if written by a brainless blue-blood lefty.

I don’t have a single problem with this. She is selling a book. If you can’t afford it or don’t want the book. Don’t buy it. People are so jealous of celebrities and rich people. SAD!!!!

Gwyneth Paltrow has never denied her privileged Hollywood life... and that is one thing i like about her... she is who she is... she cannot help it that her parents had success and she was the recipient of such a lifestyle... “oh, Apple—time for mac and cheese with black truffle...”

Oh please. You already bought advanced tickets to Ironman for this Summer. That movie staring Gweneth Paltrow will make a ton!

Ironman 3 will probably be a blockbuster worldwide. I’ll go out on a limb and say a worldwide of 600 million plus.

As to the cookbook, if a person likes cooking with exotic or expensive ingredients, more power to them; I do it myself from time to time. A little occasional indulgence never hurt anyone.

Much to my great pleasure, my town, Ostrava, is filled with Gwyneth Paltrow lookalikes. I first noticed this when I chatted with a young lady in a pub - she was an absolute dead ringer for Gwyneth...for about 10 seconds until she speaking Czech, I thought she WAS Gwyneth Paltrow. Happily, as she explained to me, she’s from the largest “tribe” in Moravian Silesia, and there’s lots of girls who look very much like her.

It’s nice.

Looks like we can skip this one when it makes it to thrift store shelves.

This weekend I scored about 50 old recipe books and pamphlets mainly from the 30’s through the 60’s. Lots and lots of good stuff on rationing, cheap living and making dollars stretch. Get it while you can.

It is a strong flavored honey from New Zeeland where the bees get the nectur from the manuka tree (tea tree). It is supposed to have medicinal properties. You can buy it at Whole Foods any good health foods store or upscale food market. I’ve even seen it Ralph’s (Kroeger chain) Fresh Fair and Gelsons. It is not outrageously expensive. It is in the price range of other premium honey’s. I haven’t tried it. I usually get buckwheat honey which is another stong flavoered honey. Tea Tree oil and anything to do with it is very in.
