Any of you freepers out there remember growing up in the western Chicago suburbs and chowing down regularly with "Frenchie's" Chicago hot dogs and a side of wonderful fries?
I think Frenchies is long gone. "Portillo's" drive-throughs have good Chicago hot dogs, but no match for Frenchie's of the old days.
How about this...I used to date a young Portillo in MY younger days....and now he's a multi-millionaire derived from his Chicago-area drive-through-or-eat-in restaurants.
Here in Florida I make my own Frenchie's. Occasionally I bump into a Chicago suburbs ex-pat and we pine together as we fondly reminisce over Chicago hot dogs, Italian beefs and pizza....all of which especially-tasty treats are non-duplicated down here in the southland.
Bon appetit!

Hm, maybe try some Sour & Savory Zucchini Pickles:
2½ lbs Zucchini
4 heads Fresh Dill
4 cloves Garlic
4 ea. Jalapeno
1 ea. Carrot, Onion, and/or Bell-Pepper [optional]
------------------------------------------
1c Water
2½c White Vinegar
½c Fresh Lemon Juice
1 tsp Parsley (fresh, chopped is best)
1/8 tsp Celery Seed
¼ tsp mustard seed (ground)
¼ tsp Curry powder
1 tsp Turbinado sugar
1/3c Sea Salt
Peel the zucchini; you don't *have* to but it tastes better w/o the peel.
Then slice the Dill, Garlic, Jalapeno & optional veggies and pack
them into your sterilized jars. Mix the water, vinegar, and salt together
in a pot, bring to a boil then add the remaining ingredients.
Finish as you would for canning pickles: pour the boiling brine over the
zucchini/veggies & seal. Let it sit for about a month (two or three for
best results), then break them out and enjoy.
Yum!
Costco kosher 1/3 polish sausage on a warm stadium roll with mustard and sweet onions. Anything else optional.

Glad I was able to have a balanced diet today with just two delicious hot dogs. Never knew they contained so much good stuff. Thanks!
I actually like veggie dogs and like veggie corn dogs even better. You can’t find good dogs around here so it really doesn’t matter.
Roman: [while barbequing lobsters] How about the gourmet here, you know what he wanted? Hotdogs! You know what they make those things out of, Chet? You know? Lips and assholes!

You must have worked at a meat processing ... Like Johny Morrell’s plant. You could have made “all” bold at least.
Oh, man, you’re making my mouth water! We used to go to the WindMill in Ocean Grove (or was it Belmar?) when we visited my relatives in Neptune City!
