Two Pennsylvania parents have been arrested after police say motorists spied a 10-year-old girl riding in a dog cage in the back of the family pickup truck.

The incident happened at around 7pm Monday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Millvale, just outside Pittsburgh, according to police.

Officers responded to the scene after getting reports from passing driver who saw the girl riding in the back of the truck in the cage.

PA Turnpike is route 76.
Unless there is another Millvale, someone has good eyes.

“Thank goodness they got htese hardened criminal seal belt violators off gthe roads- who knows what they mighta tried next?”

I am not a fan of seatbelt laws. I was just pointing out that if they realize the kid is not a kidnap victim or abused, they should not be in any more trouble than a seat belt violation.

I am loathe to turn anyone in to CPS - I’d have to be convinced of horrific abuse before I did - however seeing a girl driven past me in a dog kennel would worry me, really. I’d always wonder, what if she was some sort of prisoner, and I saw and did nothing?

The parents never thought of this, how it would look to drivers-by?

An old pick up truck with gramps and a few of his pals up front driving, (and knocking back the belts!!)

Reminds me of a joke: Three fellas were leaving their favorite backroads tavern, one of them very drunk and the other two mostly so. "Let's help him into the back of the pickem'up truck, Bubba" said Slim. Slim replied "He's too drunk and he might fall out and get hurt. Let him drive!"

...I bet the vast majority have never experienced the simple pleasure of riding in the back of a pickup.

I remember a PSA on a children's radio show when I was a sprout. "Don't stick your elbow out too far, or it might go home in another car!"

I've seen that type thing happen myself.

Driving to work on Monday, at 50MPH on a local 4 lane highway, one of the doors of the trailer in front of me suddenly opened, and I was staring at a precarious load of empty pallets...

Since I am one of those very annoying safe drivers who is paranoid about things like safe vehicle separation, and braking distances, the semi driver was able to slow down safely and slowly enough that the pallets didn't actually hit the pavement untill he had fully pulled off to the shoulder, and stopped.
(The left lane vehicles kept on going at high speed, untill another semi truck driver came level with me in my tiny little car, saw the danger of the trailor door swinging open and closed, and the unsecured load shifting, and we two “inconsiderate jerks” intentionally slowed up two lanes of traffic for almost one full entire minute!)

I hate driving!
Not because I can't do it properly, but because so many others don't even try to pay attention to what they are doing when they drive!

BTW, I drove on the Autobahn in Germany several decades ago, and drove away physically unharmed, my vehicle unscratched, after an uncontrolled skid caused by an idiot overreacting to an accident up ahead, at 90 MPH, on a wet road, and endured the unmatched thrill of several consecutive 180 degree spins on a high bridge.

If I ever win the lotto, one of the first people I will employ is a proffessional driver, and my vehicle will be the closest thing to an Army tank that I can legally have my driver, drive! I have to laugh at all the people on this thread talking about the good old days, when they were kids, and rode in the back of trucks and just had fun. My kid experienced that joy too! Bumpy ride in the back of a truck at about 15 MPHs on a deserted road. All the kids thought they were flying free down the road!
