Jillian Soto was stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on a New England highway when she learned over Facebook that her older sister Vicky, a first-grade teacher in Newtown, Connecticut, had died in a shooting.

In the six months since, Soto said she has become an accidental activist for gun control measures, like expanded background checks in gun purchases, and a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines

Let's see. She's 24, stuck in traffic checking her facebook? Anybody see an issue here? Why didn't she pop open a novel and start reading, maybe mess with her makeup? Anyway, at that age she is ripe picking for the likes of mares against ill-eagle guns (MAIGgots) and ultra impressionable. Who's paying for her trips back and forth? One of the foundations the sandy hookers are fighting over the money about? They have sold their souls to the antis. Wait until the 9 month anniversary and the 12 and the... They talk about the pain never going away. No, not if your handlers keep you primed and remind you every 6 months.

She was probably getting an update on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

In other words, her thought processes are just as shallow as they were before Newtown and she is gullible enough to believe these are solutions.

While I feel sorry for their loss, the “Sandy Hookers” are obviously being manipulated. Under different circumstances these drama queens would be a bunch of bored suburban milfs jumping at the chance to audition for some sleazy reality show.

Another gun-control opportunist, she means.

It's a pretty crowded field. Just ask Sarah Brady.

Reuters, AP, CBS, etc are all orchestrating a massive “beat the dead horse” media whipping this week at the 6th month anniversary.

The horse is still dead.

Like the Red Cross.....they need fresh blood.

Newtown has scabbed over no matter how much they pick at it.

Tragic to sad to pathetic.

What's it going to be like for them when they finally realize that this isn't just a horrible nightmare they're going to wake up from? They'll have that to deal with and that they were horribly used and manipulated. What they've done has subverted what could be getting to the real causes of these messed-up teens and young adults. That would be the "meds" that messed up their minds permanently and cultural violent excesses that take over their reality (my hypothesis).

Even with the cloud of grief that hands over them, they have to know a line was crossed when some of those families accepted a ride in Air Force 1. JMHO

I want to see a memorial with the names of those killed by Sonnie using a firearm which has not been, nor will ever be trackable because of new gun control laws.

“Accidental Activist” = using her sister's death to make her feel better instead of addressing the real issue.

[BTW: I thought I heard on radio yesterday the murderer in Santa Monica used a firearm he assembled after being denied a permit. Can't be sure, it was Day 8 of 3 yr old granddaughter's visit. She never stops from the time she wakes until she goes back to sleep. Between her & taking care of MIL w/Alzheimer’s my brain is rather dead right now. Munchin left last night & we miss her. :(. ]

***In the six months since, Soto said she has become an accidental activist for gun control measures, like expanded background checks in gun purchases, and a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines****

Would ANY of these prevented what happened at Newtown?

And would they REALLY STOP trying to ban other guns if a ban on these rifles were in force? Let’s look at the past.

It has always been about handguns. Assault rifles are just a decoy to try and get their anti-gun foot in the door. Throw something against the wall and see if it sticks.

Once they get a ban on AWs then they will use the same reasons to go after handguns.

John Kennedy killed with a 5 shot bolt action rifle.

Officer Tippit killed with a 6 shot revolver.

Charles Whitman, killed 14, wounded 32 others mostly with a bolt action 6mm hunting rifle. Also used a shotgun and an m1 carbine.

Medgar Evers, shot with a 5 shot 1917 bolt action Enfield rifle.

Martin Luther King, shot with a 4 shot Remington 760 pump action Gamemaster rifle.

Bobby Kennedy with a .22 Iver Johnson Cadet revolver.

George Wallace wounded with a 5 shot Charter Arms .38spl revolver.

Howard Johnsons shooter (Mark Essex) killed nine, wounded thirteen with a 4 shot RUGER .44 mag Deerslayer rifle.

Gerald Ford attacked with a 7 shot 1911 semi auto.

Edmond OK post office with two National Guard 7 shot 1911 pistols.

SF mayor Moscone and his homo toadie killed with a 6 shot revolver.

John Lennon murdered with a 5 shot Charter Arms revolver.

Ronald Reagan and Jim Brady with an RG-14 .22 revolver.

Ronald Gene Simmons: killed sixteen people. Strangled half his family, shot the other half with a .22 single action six shot revolver.

What do they all have in common? NONE over 7 rounds, yet after each one came a cry of panic to ban ALL of them.

Take a lesson from Nelson Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control Inc.

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc.

“I’m convinced that we have to have FEDERAL LEGISLATION to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.

Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — totally illegal.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

HCI, around 1984, came out in favor of a ban on semi-auto rifles and shotguns, something they said they would NEVER DO!

So, do you really think that if an anti assault weapon ban is enacted, the anti-gun organizations will turn off the lights and go home? Not on your life! On to step TWO!

This is a "free country." its underlying philosophy is allowing each person to believe what he/she wants in his/her own way, as long as it doesn't trespass on the viability and limited satisfaction of another's ability to do the same. Let Miss Soto miss her own sister in the same way we all miss our own dear ones who for some reason or another, not always logical or reasonable, pass on.

And let her have the same reminder to let others do likewise.

Please keep her from inflicting her viewpoint on others in an uninvited fashion.

So if someone kills a relative while driving and checking facebook, can we outlaw automobiles?

No, the pain never goes away... but they were awful nostalgic and happy about snow and stuff on the day her sister was killed.

Everyone of these people (well, at least the handful they consistently parade in front of us) are just not right. Something is just not right.

I believe the psycho-babblers call their “dis-order” projection. Leads to illogical conclusions, unreasonableness and misdirected guilt. Yup. Sound right to me. The ever affable nanny bloomers and his minions should be ashamed for not letting these folks grieve and move on by constantly ripping the scab off.
