Police in Slaton, Texas, took exception when a 32-yeReason 24/7Reasonar-old mom had the nerve to ask to see the arrest warrant for her 11-year-old son. Rather than show it, or leave, they arrested the by-the-book mother and hauled her in to spend the night behind bars. The son who was the supposed focus of their attentions? They left him unmolested.

Slaton police came to this woman's house, who wishes to remain anonymous, to arrest her son. But by asking one simple question, she found herself behind bars instead.
"I told him, 'I will release my son to you upon viewing those orders.' Those were exactly my words," The complainant said. "He said, 'This is how you want to play?' He took two steps back, turned around to the officer and said, 'Take her.' They turned me around, handcuffed me, and took me in."
The complainant said she was aware police would be coming to apprehend her 11-year-old son based on a criminal complaint, and that she just wanted to see the warrant. As it turns out, that warrant didn't exist. She spent the night in jail while her son was left at home.
It turns out that the police had no warrant because the "the directive to apprehend was not signed until May 30," which was the day after they showed up at the house. That probably explains why the kid wasn't arrested during the visit, even as his mom was.
The Slaton Police Department has offered to apologize — if the family agrees not to sue. Well, good manners aren't the local authorities' strong point, we already know.
She definitely needs to press charges in a civil trial. The police asking for dismissal of charges of unlawful arrest is a clear admission of guilt that would stand in any court of law.
If I did what the cops did it would be called kidnapping.
If they were willing to illegally arrest a minor, it follows that said minor is likely to be innocent of whatever crime or misdemeanor to which he stands accused.
For all we know, her son may have “slighted” one of their sons or daughters at school, and to teach him a lesson, they retaliate.
....and the media would call you a terrorist.
Since the mom knew this was coming I would guess that there was a valid reason to arrest the kid.
The cops were jumping the gun. The cops should have just said we’ll be back tomorrow.
Arresting the mom was just stupid arrogance of a cop; Too arrogant to be a cop. He should be fired.

Your ass and mine if we did something like this would be under the jail. But these criminals with badges will probably be promoted. And if that woman values her life, she should already left town to a place known only to her lawyer. Else she is going to either have an “accident”, or be arrested on trumped up charges and have a fatal “accident”in jail.
