Glenn returned to D.C. on Wednesday to give his first speech at a Tea Party event at the Capitol since Restoring Honor. Thousands showed up for the Tea Party Patriots Audit the IRS event that coincided with the press conference, featuring Reps Bachmann, Gohmert, and King, to block any immigration legislation from passing through the House.
The Audit the IRS event kicked off at 12pm ET, following the press conference on immigration. Glenn joined conservatives leaders like Dana Loesch, Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Rand Paul, and many others to speak at the event. While most focused on the issue of the IRS audits targeting conservative and religious groups Glenn took on the fundamental basis of the issue: Civil Rights.
With the Black Robed Regiment at his side, Glenn tackled issues of equal rights, faith, and leadership in front of the large Tea Party crowd. He noted that a statue of Fredrick Douglas has just been dedicated just a few steps from where they were standing, inside the Capitol.
A man born into slavery, but who knew instinctively that he was not born a slave, Glenn said to start his speech. No man is.
Glenn highlighted that all Civil Rights movements boil down to one thing: Mans quest and desire for power.
Someone has always been on the losing end of the stick of power, he said. Blacks are the most obvious, the Chinese, the Native Americans but lets not forget the Irish, the Catholics, the Mormons, the Jews, and now it seems all those of faith that will not conform.
But for those that believe the solution lies in putting the collective ahead of the individual, Glenn issued a stern warning
For those that think men make progress collectively, I warn you, history teachers: You couldnt be more wrong.
We are redeemed one man at a time, he continued. There is no family pass ticket or park hopping pass to life. One ticket one at a time. man doesnt vanquish hatred or bigotry. the target keeps moving. From the blacks to the Irish; atheists to Christians. But as always there are a few leaders: Ben Franklin, John Quincy Adams, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Abraham Lincoln, Fredrick Douglas, Booker T Washington, Ghandi and Martin Luther King.
They know that the march toward freedom never ends, man must be ever vigilant and pray less with his lips and more with his legs.
Glenn closed his speech by reminding the crowd that if theyve been looking for a leader, and they havent been able to find one, it might be because theyre the leader theyre looking for. And its time to take a stand.
Let us, today, raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God.
See Glenns complete remarks below:
Some dooshbags misunderstood what Beck was saying to start one of his shows. There was no announcement. Period. He spoke too much though about a whistle blower he knew about and people thought he would make a revelation about him the next day because they misunderstand his statement and the following sentences. He was talking about a attempt by the GOP to challenge Boehner on Amnesty and other measures because Boehner is a democrat. That was the revelation he was discussing.
He said he would announce something with in 24 hours and that was not about the whistle blower. He said he didn’t even know the guy well as that guy talked to someone else, but one of his documents could bring down the country. Then he let it go because he said too much. Then he said he had a revelation. It was not about the whistle blower. He was talking about a attempt by the GOP to challenge Boehner on Amnesty and other measures because Boehner is a democrat. The next day that was all he talked about on the show.
I can still listen to Glenn beck even if I disagree with him on gay marriage.
That certainly is the direction things are going. Consider justice in general. Justice today only belongs to whomever holds the monopoly on violence. George Zimmerman is being railroaded on a Murder charge in FLA because the blacks will riot if he walks. So, in your example, eventually the bigger gun will determine the outcome.
There will eventually be marriage-like, state-enforced contracts, but they won't be called marriages, and probably won't be performed in churches. If someone chooses to have a church wedding, they can but it won't be seamless with the state's ability to control contract law.
The big announcement was that 70 rebel republicans caused Tammy Faye Boehner to cave on immigration (successfully so far...we’ll see).
BTW...the morning after the announcement he called people like you dopes.
Thank you for clarifying - very helpful. I have nothing against Beck. I actually like his show, but I never get to watch it due to my schedule.
It was about the 70 members of the House, who signed on and pledged to hold the line to stop Boehner and the House from putting forward an Immigration bill in any form...basically forcing Boehner to follow the Hastert rule. Because they all realize (and know), like we do, that any bill the House puts forward, will be scrapped for the one the Senate puts out, and the Senate bill will be the one voted IN. And then we’ll all get AMNESTY.
It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but in the grand scheme of things, if that bill gets in....we are literally truly doomed as a country. So finding 70 in the House to hold the line and fight back, is a great thing
The only thing I have against him is how he treated Ron Paul during the primaries.
