It’s official -- a humpback, duck waddle and huge head are a winning combination.

Walle, a mutt, won the top prize in the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest. The precious pooch, who is a mix of beagle, basset hound and boxer breeds, won over the crowd with his hind leg stance, which demonstrated both his girth and large head.
“People come up to me and say, ‘That dog is not right,’ but I love him,” said owner Tammie Barbee, who adopted Walle when he was just three months old.
“This is a dog you have to see move in order to appreciate his ugly dog status,” the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest said in a press release.
The contest is held annually at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif. The contest has been previously dominated by the Chinese crested, a small breed with facial hair.
But the Chinese crested was no match for Walle this year, whose odd looks won the favor of judge Brian Sobel. "This dog looked like he's been Photoshopped with pieces from various dogs and maybe a few other animals," he said.
This year, the contest celebrated its 25th anniversary, and Walle walked away with $1,500 in prize money and a trophy.
Show producer Vicki DeArmon, who is also the author of the book “World’s Ugliest Dogs: The Official World’s Ugliest Dog Book," said that in her seven years of working on the event, this year was the best. “A wide variety of dogs and a record crowd made the energy just electric and the hosts were hilarious,” she said.
Walle and his owner will make an appearance Sunday on TODAY.

Not ugly! He is cute, what were those people thinking!
He’s actually a beautiful dog, but with an unfortunate physical deformity. I’d imagine his littermates aren’t considered ugly at all, provided they aren’t suffering from the same problem. It’s actually a very striking combination of Beagle, Bassett and Boxer, he almost looks purebred. Good on her for taking him in and giving him a good home. He looks quite happy. Dogs aren’t vain, they don’t notice or care.
Exactly how many dogs showed up clean shaven? And thank God it is not one of the Chinese Crested B@$tards. I an sick of them winning.
A purebred that is plenty ugly is the Wire haired pointing Griffin.
