Coffee hot? Say it ain’t so!
I think if it was so hot that it could actually scald his skin, not a single person would’ve picked it up.
So? The coffee is hot. Duh.
I got married 30 years ago and I am not suing the minister. Get over it, buddy.
After the last suit, McDonalds lowered the brewing temperature 10-20 degrees. Their coffee is the same temp as everyone elses ...the difference seems to be they have a lot of money.
After learning all of the specifics in the first coffee lawsuit, I actually agree with the lady who sued. McDonalds’ SOP was to keep the coffee at a minimum of 180 degrees to keep from having to dump old coffee during slow times. The company claimed it saved them around a million dollars a day to keep it at this temp. The lady had third degree burns and had to have skin grafts. The jurors declared that $1.89 million was just under two day’s worth of savings from McDonalds’ 180 degree temperature SOP. The SOP has since been revised. I don’t know how to post pics, but here’s a link to one pic. WARNING: The image is extremely graphic and disturbing!
The reason the old lady won the first McDonald’s law suit 25 years ago because it was shown in court that McDonalds had a policy to serve the coffee as hot as possible to dissuade coffee drinks from bring the cups back to the counter and pester the staff for free refills, which I guess is common for older citizens to do. I saw pics of the old lady’s burns on her legs. They burns were really horrible.
Scalded, technically.
This whole freakin country is swirling down the toilet. Everyone is looking for something for nothing. This dope spills hot coffee on himself? Well then why should he have to work for a living when he can sucker some stupid jury into awarding him millions from McDonalds? I mean, McDonalds is a “greedy” “rich” corporation that isn’t paying its “fair share” of taxes. And then when the price of a hamburger goes up, we can rant and rave about how McDonalds is screwing us by jacking up prices to make a “profit.”
How original.
If you are ever in Albuquerque, you can visit the McDonalds where the old woman burned herself with coffee back in the 90s. It’s the one located at Montgomery and Tramway.
I know all the yuck yuck jokes on how coffee is SUPPOSED to be hot, but McDonald’s has been known to ignore inspector’s warning on their temp on coffee.
There is “hot” coffee and there is “boiling liquid.” McDonald’s can’t seem to get the two apart.
The coffee lawsuit from several years back is an example of just that. That location had been warned at least four times that the temp of their coffee was at almost boiling level. The woman suffered second or third degree burns which is NOT the normal coffee temp.
So not assuming this guy is stupid. We don’t know the extent of his burns.
The reason I know this is because we studied it in a continuing education class for my insurance license. It was on frivolous lawsuits, and we were all surprised to find this out because all thought it was a silly suit too. Then we learned the facts.
Should have had cold coffee - might have frozen his brain.
Mc D has money. Snake attorney wants more money. End of story.
Every such cup I’ve ever seen plainly say “Caution.Extremely Hot” on them.Of course that wouldn’t prevent a jury with a collective IQ of 50 from awarding 50 million.
Next time, the employees should explain that they tested the coffee temperature with a used rectal thermometer and it was perfect.
