Group says Catholics have more enjoyable sex, more often.
Group says Catholics have more enjoyable sex, more often.
Devout, married Catholics have the best sex of any demographic group, the Family Research Council said at an event Wednesday, pointing to a collection of studies from the last several decades.
The socially conservative Christian group relied heavily on statistics from the University of Chicago's last National Health and Social Life Survey, conducted in 1992, which found the most enjoyable and most frequent sex occurring among married people, those who attended church weekly any church, whether Catholic or not and people who had the least sexual partners.
"Those who worship God weekly have the best sex," said Patrick Fagan, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council and a former George H.W. Bush official, in a talk hosted with the Center for the Advancement of Catholic Higher Education Wednesday. "I want to see this on the cover of Playboy sometime."

“So by extension, then, Priests would have the best sex of all?”
A priest who has sex is by definition not a devout Catholic. Priests take a vow of celibacy. If a priest breaks that vow he is in a state of serious sin and not a devout Catholic.
I’m waiting for the resident snake handler theologians to start quoting the Holy Babble contradicting this study’s findings.

Praise the Lord!
Heh!
We don’t usually say “chemist’s” in the U.S. for a drugstore.
Well, if the good Lord made the pencil, no reason why He couldn’t very easily double-up on the lead inside from time to time. Especially as a kind reward to those obedient to rules and teaching.
Suprised that it has not happened.
No, that’s like saying “by extension, Jews only do foreplay.”
(I think it would work for Saturday Synagogue goers, too.)
My own hunch is this: of itself, sex can go one of two opposite ways:
With the first, all you care about is a pattern of pleasurable sensate experiences for yourself primarily, like taking drugs or riding in a roller-coaster: essentially solipsistic, and ultimately lonely, sad, and disappointing.
With the second, sex turns you powerfully outward toward a person who is specifically different from you (your sexually-differentiated spouse, not a mirror of "you", but a real, genuine "other"); outward toward the children you beget and conceive, who are the living embodiments of you and your spouse, and a whole "other" generation; and outward toward God, who primordially blessed the human sexual embrace back at the dawn of human existence, and doubly blesses and exalts it in the Sacrament of Matrimony.
So sex is either a baited trap that locks you in your own sensate meat, and ends up in death, that's it; or a life-force that propels you outward toward your beloved "other," your children (a multiplication of you and the "other,"), and your God, the resplendent Source of life and love.
The first eventually makes you depleted.
The second -- with God's blessing --- you love life, your lovemaking is lifemaking, and you have life more abundantly.
Just thinking these thoughts.
