Ben Carson on Hannity: "maybe GZ should have had a taser"

Posted on 07/17/2013 6:37:49 PM PDT by Red in Blue PA

Sorry, Ben Carson may be "intelligent" but he is still a moron. On Hannity he just said that GZ should have had a taser instead of a gun. He alsothinks it was 2nd or 3nd degree murder.

This follows comments by his that the 2A perhaps should be restricted by zip code.

A lot of people may be a fan of this guy, but he is clueless to issues regarding the Constitution, self defense or the 2A.

Thanks for the info. He's definitely off my list now.

The zip code thing is really ignorant. Evidently he doesn't believe that Eric Holder's people are created equal, just like Eric.

I carry a 13 oz. bear spray in addition to my CC. The bear spray is said to discourage an 800 lb bear. I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but I also don’t want to spend a couple years in court just because some thug wannabe wants to start something. Of course, if I was out numbered or in a really precarious situation, I think I’d go for the gun. But, I would not let an unarmed thug get within striking distance before giving him a jolt of hi-test capsaicin.

Save your breath, he’ll be deemed “unacceptable” or “not conservative enough” or fail to toe the line on one narrow issue like this or another for the Circular Firing Squad known as conservatives who fail to understand that perfect is the enemy of good.

No one is saying he isn't a good man....

...but most of us here have been burned once too often by 'good men' in politics.

....If Carson doesn't know enough about the Zimmerman case to opine......he should have taken a pass.

...Carson's 3rd degree or manslaughter with one or two year sentence statement... and everyone is happy was ridiculous.

If he had followed this case at all, he would have know George was looking at 30 years for manslaughter alone.

Neither he nor Michael Bond wanted to acknowledge George's lack of racism in his personal life.

It all is just getting ridiculous!

I don't disagree.

I am going to guess he didn't know all the facts and was being asked to opine on something he shouldn't have been.

Maybe so, but he wouldn’t be a good politician or leader for America.

Just heard him say those things on Hannity and was very disappointed (again).

I really like Carson but, you’re right, he’s made some very strange and disappointing comments on 2A matters.

We are waaayyyyy past ridiculous. Entering the Twilight Zone where thugs are now given candlelight vigils and are hailed throughout the country. And then supposedly intelligent brain surgeons pick apart the victim for acting in a split second manner and getting out with their life (thankfully).

He would be OK as a mayor of an already democrat run city.

I don’t think he has what it takes but he could probably win in Detroit and his feelings on guns wouldn’t matter anyway because state law supersedes local ordinances.

His real value would be as an inspiration for inner city blacks to rise above their situation like he did and to think on their own.

I understand your reservations.

But he would be 1,000,000X times better than what we have now.

The 2nd Amendment and right to self preservation are "narrow issues"?

Carson has already made some wobbly statements in regards to the 2nd Amendment. This pretty much nails it down. If I find myself in mortal peril, I don't want members of the intelligentsia telling me what means I may, may not, and should use.

Ive watched all this Trayvon nonsense from the start...only 2 Blacks have been honest about the whole thing, and shockingly, Leo Terrell was one of them. Larry Elder the other.

That may be.....but my earlier impression of him was that his intelligence usually tempered his responses to situations he was unfamiliar with.

I was very surprised he did this time.....and sadly think he may be less color blind than I thought.

His having Julian Bond as a 'role model' was another red flag for me.

The circular firing squad is right on. However, it seems that every well-known black person has made some kind of statement regarding this issue. To my knowledge, and correct me if I’m wrong, only Allen West has said the jury verdict was correct.

Funny, I haven’t heard any Republican members of Congress make a statement, and I hope they don’t.

Typically the current won't jump to the firer in that case, or anyone being held onto or holding onto the target.

Police officers use Tasers at point blank range all the time on combative suspects while either they or their partner is grapping with the suspect.

I am disappointed too.

I still really like the man. He is a great inspiration to all (not just blacks). Not saying I would vote for him, but he has my admiration.
