Carson-love is reminiscent of Rubio-love. Ah yes, our hero riding in on a (non)white horse to save the day!

You mean the winnowing down of bad candidates to good ones through their stance on the issues? Is that what you mean by circular firing squad?

Probably wouldn’t have been a bad idea, honestly. Tasers work.

If you're a few feet away from your attacker.

I don't think you'd be able to get the thing positioned right with a guy straddling you bashing your head into the sidewalk.

Larry Elder also said the verdict was correct.

I suppose, but 1,000,000 x 0 = 0.

2nd amendment is a deal breaker for me. Shall not be infringed means shall not be infringed. There is no leeway with me on this matter at all.

But sadly, his comments on the Zimmerman case further rule him out as well.

I do not have any time for, respect for or patience for anyone who cannot get their head around the simple facts of that case. Self defense is self defense.

So the combination of his thoughts on the 2nd amendment ans self defense makes him radioactive to me.

Tasers work.

So do guns!

All these people keep saying Zimmerman should have identified himself. First of all, the cops who spoke with the neighborhood watch group told them not to confront people acting suspiciously. Second, according to Jeantel Martin knew Zimmerman was a security person....she said that’s what “creepy ass cracker” means.

Well, maybe. But that’s what Bernie De La Rionda said about Zimmerman and his KelTec pistol.

What if Zimmerman had a taser....and Martin had a gun. That would not have been a good ending for Zimmerman.

What if the Founding Fathers had only had sticks and stones?

What if, what if, what if......

I’ve been on the receiving end of such devices. Shrugged it off and fired 17 rounds into a target.

Great when they work, gives someone motivation to do you harm when it doesn’t.

Remember, testimony showed that T’s shirt was hanging some 4” from his body - enough to stop a Taser electrode from doing its job.

Dead to me at this point.

Looks like yet again, skin color trumps rule of law and common sense.

I don’t want another black president. All blacks appear to still be fighting slavery against white people. Enough. This black president has caused blacks to riot, rampage, and murder. No more black presidents.

Some research shows that if you make contact with the tasee between the electrodes, you will also be tased. If you avoid the completed “circuit” between the electrodes you should be OK, as long as both electrodes are in contact with the tasee.

Used to love Dr. Carson. Still love him, but not for POTUS.

Good thing that he got flushed out now instead of during the primary run.....
Could it not be said that his conclusion is not from logic or law, but a racially prejudiced viewpoint?

We should be thankful.

Doc? Since you’ve retired from surgery, how about trying to bring some logic to our black brethren who have Marxist views - but in other areas than regarding self-defense?

It's like this: Some here are pointing out that Tasers are single-shot and if you miss you're out of luck. Well, George Zimmerman only had one shot as well because his KelTec didn't eject the spent case -- lending credence to his claim that Trayvon Martin was grappling with him for his gun. There are other possibilities as to why the KelTec jammed after one round was fired but the point here is that Zimmerman couldn't have followed up with another shot without clearing his jam. Of course, now we know he didn't need to. His single shot tore Martin's heart open.

There are Taser models that offer multi-shot capability ('X2' model) and those which can be used as contact Tasers in the event the shot misses.

In self-defense training with firearms, a good instructor will teach students that there's a 21-foot distance where use of deadly force is prescribed because handgun bullets -- like medicine -- often need time to take effect. An assailant armed with a knife can take several shots to critical organs, cover the distance of 21 feet in an eyeblink, and still carve up a pistol-armed defender like a Thanksgiving turkey before finally expiring -- even if he's still getting shot repeatedly.

In that situation, a Taser is actually more effective than a pistol-caliber handgun. You get a solid hit with a Taser, and you're going to the ground for awhile unable to do very much except make little squeaking noises. Comparatively, a pistol shot must strike a vital organ or the nervous system to achieve a 'stop' on a hostile target, whereas a solid Taser hit can pretty much end the fight right there from a pretty long distance distance even if the Taser projectile strikes the subject an area where a handgun bullet wouldn't achieve any suitable effect.

They're two different defensive means that only share some similarities.

Now if you want to continue to play 'What If?', maybe we ought to wait for an ancient Spartan hoplite to come in here and post that the nine foot long bronze spear beats absolutely every other weapon in the world at short distance when properly employed.
