I think he may be talking about Hermaphrodites vs thinking you are female when you have the plumbing of a boy and chromosomes to match.

What level of alteration is OK?

I believe the act of "sex change"(actually just genital mutilation)is a sin but once done is not an unforgiveable sin. Just as an alcoholic with liver damage isn't forbaden from salvation even though the damage is irrepairable.

However that brings up the question of that person is still the genetically male/female pre-operation state and thus the sin of homosexuelity is still a sin.

Wonder how PR got around THAT issue?

Even little things like dying one’s hair, putting on makeup....aren’t we saying we aren’t happy with the way God made us?

The Amish certainly think so.

But then they believe colorful garments are a sin(pride)and detract from the Glory of God...

And they do, as well. Backsliding is an Old Testament term which might or might not be literally apropos as it describes the behavior of a group, not of an individual, without explaining how it got that way (shift in individuals’ behavior? shift in membership?) but it tells more than “carnal” does. I don’t get bent out of shape at this terminology, I know what they mean and it’s clear enough.

“He admits that he has two sex-changers who work for him on his staff.”

Thank God CBN no longer produces a daily Bozo show for kids.

But they are more open minded towards other Christians (they call them English). Sounds to me like legalism as it is as possible to sin vigorously without modern conveniences as it is with modern conveniences. They’d be better off using whatever is needed to glorify the Lord as the Lord provides it without putting an artificial limit on what He can provide. What Amish would ever preach the gospel on Facebook? But I do....

Pat: "Lord, Lord !"

Christ: "I never knew you"

Having spent more time in Baptist churches than any other denomination, and a youth pastor in a Baptist church, and having more Baptist pastors as my friends than any other group, I just love tweaking my Baptist brethren about their idiosyncracies..... ;-)

Dreadful scenario but that’s one hypothesis... he never accepted salvation, he was simply a “good Baptist” in the flesh and nobody prodded deeply enough to see if what he claimed was plausibly so.

He really said that?
Maybe he can plead age.
Surely he does not think that man can do better then God...

Well they certainly have their unique points. I’m worshiping now at a Baptist congregation (without being a formal member, at least yet) and these folks are visibly on fire for the Lord. It has bumped my own devotion up about 20 notches, and yet I don’t agree with all. But again I had a long background at a nondenominational bible church before that so I have some biblical perspective coming into it, and I can treat disagreements with far more grace than in the past... Christians here can be very good but they will not be perfect yet and it is a matter of wisdom what to let go and what to attempt to set right at a given time.

One thing I think might be a bit short of spiritually perceptive is the classic Baptist take on hell (”You wanna get outta there”) ... in the only account we have of an occupant, he never asked to get out, and it seems likely to me that such parties crammed full of hatred until sated, bereft of any love for God, wouldn’t ever entertain a notion of wanting to visit earth, let alone heaven. Those places would have too much of that grody love of God in them. I think Dives did not want his brothers there not as some noble desire of charity but because they’d be quarreling. (Even hell has its limits on how enraged it is willing to get. Ahh guys you are lazy!)

“I thought the generation that took Pat Robertson seriously would have died off now.”

There have been several in our community who have experienced supernatural healing following WORDS of KNOWLEDGE by those on CBN.

He was given Spiritual Gifts by HOLY SPIRIT - Like Samson, the gifts still operate, even though that person has fallen from grace.

I’ve often wondered that, too. Even little things like dying one’s hair, putting on makeup, wearing a toupee, even dressing to hide one’s figure flaws, aren’t we saying we aren’t happy with the way God made us?

Dieting and Body Building should also be added to that list...

I would say all the above fit under the Sin of “Vanity”, however, it is a sin like Gluttony as well..

Forgivable, but one is supposed to try not to do it as much...

Dude, it doesn’t matter if you actually bashed Catholics or not. If you mention Catholics around here in anything other than glowing praise, someone will accuse you of bashing them. Just the way it is.

Hatred has a way of being weirdly pleasurable... I can personally vouch for that, no I will not furnish details. Living in the love of God like I am doing now more and more is truly a paradise compared with this.

Hell is just a weird place, at least as weird as the entities that center around it are depicted at Halloween. C. S. Lewis said that if hell could be pure pleasure, that black pleasure would be such as to send any soul not already damned flying to its prayers in nightmare terror. (And I would add, shocked at itself.)

Wanting to appear different externally could have reasons that are based in honest glorification of God. But not a mutilation or costuming to appear a different gender. That’s based in the hatred that comes from hell, and as I said, hell’s hatred can be very pleasurable at least until the heaven still in you rebels.
