Watch ‘Crazy Rhubarb Lady’ Terrorize Her Neighbors (new internet sensation)

Whatever happened to loving thy neighbor?

An unidentified Iowan woman — “Crazy rhubarb lady,” as the Internet hath dubbed her — has rocketed to online infamy this week when video appeared online of her shouting a long string of profanities at a homeowner who caught her removing rhubarbs from a patch that had found its way outside the limits of a fence.

Apparently “Crazy Rhubarb Lady” has made a habit of plucking rhubarb from a neighbor’s patch, and has been confronted multiple times, but only when the cameras are rolling does the public get a glimpse into the hilarity of a woman cursing out two other adults over a leafy plant.

“This is alley property, b*tch!” the woman yells at a woman off-camera. “This don’t have your name on it. Where’s your name, b*tch? Where’s your name?”

She continued to lash out at the other woman: “You stick your nose in everyone’s business.”

“If it’s anybody’s property, why don’t you come up and mow it?” the off-camera woman asks. The answer: Because of the “Iranian pigs” who live in the area and stole her lawnmower.

The verbal battle continued for at least five minutes, with Rhubarb Lady calling her accuser a “lezzie” for addressing her as “sweetheart.”

We hope the rhubarb was really worth it.

Yep! I was convinced this was filmed in South Park ;-)

Not gonna win the Good Neighbor award with an attitude like this!

Apply a liberal application to leaf and root system. Let crazy neighbor eat her fill. Problem solved.

Here your property line starts 33 feet from the center of a right of way. The fence was most likely required by zoning to be off the property line by 5 or 10 feet.

In many places the alley is located on an easement that is there for the homeowners’ convenience. In that case the actual property lines could be down the middle of the alley, off to one side or the other, or the alley might go right through the middle of someone's property. It depends on how the area was subdivided. The easment might only be for people who live there and not open to the public at all. That is how it is in the gated community where we live. It really isn't possible to make an accurate assumption based on how it works somewhere else.

Fences are often well within property lines. I am amazed by the number of people on the forum with the video that think they are entitled to steal another person's plants, flowers or presumably benches, tables or anything else just because they are on the outside of a fence. If true... why would this not apply to cars, bicycles, horses, dogs or anything else on the outside of a fence?

When I want to really make an impression on someone I just met, I kinda sidle up to them, take a conspiratorial tone, and say, "Think the rain'll hurt the rhubarb?"

It's a real conversation starter.

I did not view the video, but, based on the above, this woman is no lady.

Naw, just tell her she can eat ALL the rhubarb leaves she wants to take. But she HAS to leave the stems.

THAT'S problem solved.

I always say that if something happened to the Spousal Unit, I’d not re-marry. But finding a woman who can forage is pretty darned tempting!!

Oh she could easily live in the trailer park (”Trailer Park Boys”). Same bolt of cloth, eh?

The fact that the plants are outside the fence is irrelevant. I’ve had fences on my property which do not go up to the limits of my property line. Sometimes I just wanted to contain dogs or kids in a small area.

Just about this time, I would fire up the power mower and head out that back gate. That woman is nuts. God love her heart.

What an absolutely horrible beastly “woman”! I can’t believe someone would act like that. That is absolutely amazing. If you haven’t seen the movie Arthur with Dudley Moore this won’t make sense, but reminds me of “Perry’s wife”. Perry’s wife was a lot screechier, though. :)
