Though born in Syria, the name Ansara is Lebanese, and typically is Antiochan Orthodox Christian.
Ironically, being of medium skin tone and indefinite racial features paid off, as he has played several different tribes of Native American Indians, Indian Indians, Sikhs, Chinese, Russian, 3 different ethnic roles in a single series, Spanish, Indonesian, Greek, Egyptian, Hebrew, Babylonian, Italian, Moroccan, a “Technomage” in Babylon 5, a Klingon, and a Gothamite Dr. Fries “Freeze”.
He was the last of the three great Klingons of TOS!
They showed up in DS9 I think.

He was the scientist the nuclear submarine ‘Seaview’ found floating on the ice in the movie ‘Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea’.
Wasn’t he also Cochise ?
Besides Star Trek do not forget that Michael Ansara also played Kane on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century playing opposite of the beautiful Princess Ardala.
Quite a career, 1944-2001.
Yes.
Roger that. You can find the shows on Youtube.
WBill Jr. is all about them. I enjoy them too, but I also like them because I don't need to worry about excessive gore and F-bombs.
Nothing wrong with a TV show that has good guys, and bad guys. While I enjoy some more recent movies (Batman comes to mind immediately), the whole "Tragic Anti-Hero" thing is done to death. Whatever happened to a good superhero with a strong moral center, who did things because they were the right thing to do?
/rant off. Going home to watch my Superman cartoons from '41-'42. :-)
Me too. I still watch Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel and wax nostalgic every day. Those were the good old days weren’t they? I wish the western channel would bring back Broken Arrow. I loved that show.
I forgot that Zathras gone too.
Poor Zathras, he now closer to ground.
Moral center? Manliness?
Naw, you have to pretty much resort to vintage fare to find any of that. Scarce as hens’ teeth nowadays.
Did you see her a few months ago with Bill Clinton?
