Small Business Group Blames ‘Climate Change’ for Rising Costs
Cybercast News Service ^ | August 7, 2013 - 10:30 AM | Alissa Tabirian

The Small Business Majority, an advocacy group working to influence public policy, says that small businesses are facing higher costs due to extreme weather conditions, including floods, droughts, blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes, and a rise in sea level many claim is a result of man-made global warming. “Small businesses are particularly at risk from climate change and the extreme weather events it causes and must take steps to adapt,” the organization said in a new report. …

But when CNSNews.com asked the group’s spokeswoman how small businesses can be negatively affected when there has not been any significant global warming for the past 15 years, she responded: “The Small Business Majority and the American Sustainable Business Council prepared a report on climate change preparedness, and how small businesses are vulnerable to massive losses in the event of extreme weather events.” …

However, according to data compiled by the National Hurricane Center, an average of 5.6 major hurricanes struck the U.S. during the last five decades, compared to an average of 8.4 over the preceding 50 years. …

They call for “collective” action on this non-issue. That one word ought to say it all.

The first question I would ask “Small Business Majority” and “American Sustainable Business Council” would be:

“How many members do you have and where do you get your funding from?”

The second question after that is:

“Do you know approximately how many small businesses there are in the US, and what percentage of them are members of your group(s)?”

This is just another couple of examples in an endless line of specious groups pretending to speak for vested parties on issues that often do not EXIST. Their purpose is disinformation, fomentation, activism, and political change through deceit.

Did some surfing:

According to the SBA, there are about 5+ million small businesses that employ people; about 23 million small businesses that don’t employ people:

Looking at Small Business MAJORITY’s website:

If you search for their member ‘profile examples’ there are no more than 150 (that’s generous). Some states like mine, Georgia, have no examples at all.

I submit that their ‘example profiles’ are really just their total members. 150 One Hundred Fifty - out of 5 million, or worse, out of 23 million.

The name of their group “blah, blah MAJORITY” tells you what they are. An old liberal trick....make up a group, give it a name, pump out reams of bullshit, and hope some lazy assed reporter picks it up, hoping to spew lies as truth to the American people.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls our climates.

3. The earth is a rock.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

I got so pissed, I logged onto CRS website and told them how journalistically lazy the author was.

She fell for these two groups’ bait and switch claims and started running off examining hurricane data when she should have checked out her sources first.

Shoddy work giving collective significance to a group that comprises a miniscule percentage of real American Small Businesses.

“Too many so-called advocates are merely agitators.”

They are also part of a growing n umber of people I meet who are (either deliberately or naively) in denial about why the economy is stagnant. I’ve had managers in retail try to explain it away as seasonal fluctuations (then act bewildered when the “slow season” ends with no uptick in business), and people in charge of charity drives point to the stock market to explain the drop in giving (while their average donor wasn’t tied to the market at all); in all cases nobody wanted to say: PEOPLE HAVE LESS DISCRETIONARY MONEY TO SPEND.

Five years into Obamunism, and they won’t tell it like it is...

Collective Indeed:

“The Small Business Majority is a liberal Democratic group based in San Francisco.

http://calwatchdog.com/2012/10/26/new-small-biz-survey-supports-tax-increases/#sthash.UDKzPbvd.dpuf";

Hard Leftist think piece article that mentions the American Sustainable Business Council:

The Ascendant and Necessary Transition to a New Economy

https://www.commondreams.org/view/2013/03/01-7

“These most forward thinking businesses have joined together to create a new political voice for themselves called the American Sustainable Business Council. From energy and climate change to fair elections and taxation, ASBC is bringing the new business voice to politics.”

“More and more each day, we see the need for a fundamental transformation that would take us well beyond 20th century notions of capitalism, socialism, communism, etc. People were much more optimistic about capitalism than they are today, as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce now recognizes.”

ABSOLUTE LEFTIST PROPAGANDA

And the repeated use of the word “new” is a dead give away.

Bottom line:

Americans elected/re elected a guy with

• NO business acumen
• NO conception of W O R K
• NO conception of how wealth works
• NO regard for working people
• NO interest in the success of businesses (large OR small)
• NO intention of easing the burden of regulations businesses (large OR small)
• NO sense of the personal sacrifice which small business owners routinely make, just to stay IN business
• NO comprehension of either domestic or global economy

I could do this all day and never finish the list
