NEW VIKING KITTY
August 23, 2013 | ME

Posted on 08/23/2013 2:07:41 PM PDT by SWAMPSNIPER

Calliope has been around for awhile, been to the vet for the full treatment but she has been hiding under a bed most of the time.

Today she discovered my den with it's kitty treats and a cool red laser to chase. My daughter won't be happy if her cat gets hijacked, LOL

She is about 5 months old, another rescue kitty.

Yep! Daughter is nuts for calicos, I’ve got to be careful not to make things too attractive in here.

What happiness/love your cat must feel inside! I’m sure it will take time to get used to that.

In the meantime, I’m so comfy, so pretty, so well fed - I don’t know what to do with myself...YET!

bengals are adorable, if somewhat expensive for purebreeds. They're like tiny little tigers. My feline princesses would likely rebel at another cat .

Torties are perfect Viking kitties. Plenty of attitude. Speaking from experience. Mine was the closest thing I ever had to a “watch cat”. She would sit in the window “guarding” our home. She was tolerant of people but any dog or cat that came onto our property was greeted with snorts and hisses and the occasional growl. God help it if she got out of the house! Spit, claws fangs and vinegar.

We can fight communism and radical Islam, but there is no stopping cats from eventually taking over the world. They intend to enslave the dogs and kill off the humans. Even little kittens are in on the plot.

Awwww! I want to just pick her up and hug her! Please scratch her ears for me.

We have a tortie, very similar to your Caliope, but a very skittish one. I have actually only held her twice in her 5 years— as a small kitten, and when I had to catch her for a vet visit. I can pat her when she is curled up and relaxed, however, and she purrs away. But she is always near me and follows us around the house.

Yes— tri colors have attitudes!! We’ve always had tri-color cats, but once we had a yellow tabby, and what a difference in personality!! He was dumb, but what a sweet cat!

Then you have not tried to take one to the vets office lately (lol).

Seriesly, though my torties are also half siamese so that may explain some of the attitude.

She’s a Tortie! They can have a stubborn streak famously know as “Tortitude”!

I had one that lived to be 19. She was the best lap cat but boy was she stubborn!

Congratulations, Swamp!

Just be forewarned that Bengals are “master escape artists” - as we were told when looking for a new kitteh. They are great cats but VERY active, like to climb and jump and NEED attention. Probably not a good choice if you are gone most of the day. We ended up with a Ragdoll - much more mellow and laid back.
