This Fall's 5 Biggest Movie Hits
The Motley Fool ^ | September 14, 2013 | Steve Symington

Without a doubt, 2013 is shaping up to be a banner year at the box office so far. Led by Disney's Marvel-inspired Iron Man 3, which brought in $1.21 billion in gross ticket sales worldwide, audiences around the globe have spent a whopping $7.81 billion at the movies year-to-date.

In fact, this summer, consumers have set a new record by spending an incredible $4.76 billion at the box office, which bought them an estimated 583 million tickets. For those of you keeping track, that's also the highest number of tickets sold since the summer of 2007.

But that certainly doesn't mean the film industry is ready to roll the credits on 2013 just yet. So hold onto your hats, moviegoers, because it's time to take a look at five of the biggest movies coming out this fall.

I just watched Oblivion on Blue Ray last night. My expectations were, I thought, too high, but I LOVED that movie, even though there was a lot of similarity in the end to the end of Independence day. ;-)

I went to the movies zero times this summer. It seemed that everything had a I II or III in the title. Maybe even VI! And none of the originals were even that strong. Think I’ll watch ZERO DARK THIRTY again tonight.....

With the possible exception of the Hobbit I’m uninspired.

I thought the Hobbit was unwatchable, just my opinion.

On the other hand, The Lone Ranger was such a dud that it destroyed not only itself, but the next Pirates movie.

4 of the 5 are sequels. That’s about right for Hollywood.

BTW, the non-sequel, Ender’s Game is from my son’s favorite book. I’ve read it and it is great. Hopefully, the movie will live up to the book.

Dudden matter. I will still miss them all. I don’t give my money to those garbage in Hollyweird any more.

But, but ... you can't go see that movie 'cause Orson Scott Card is a hater -- he believes in traditional marriage! How could you even think of going to see a movie written by such a hate filled person?

Sarcasm off. However, I do have to wonder when I fell down the rabbit hole, when believing marriage to be between a man and woman, as it has been throughout human history, came to be looked at as an "evil" belief. I will be seeing Ender's Game.
