I've been promising a Texas Lt. Governor primary thread for a while. This thread is for discussion of the merits of primary candidates for the office of Lt. Governor of the State of Texas.
Lt. Governor is the most powerful elected office in the State of Texas.

An endorsement from you, goes a long way in my book, Marcella!
Thanks for the background info on Todd Staples. I've looked at his website and intend to research him some more.

Jane, I agree with you on the CommonCore fiasco. And I do not know why Senator Patrick did what he did.
I have listened to him on AM700 for at least 10 yr. and I have great faith in his ability to move Texas in the proper direction.
a Tax exemption for Home schooling is my preferred method for dealing with the communist takeover of the “education” Indoctrination system

You should know I do want to be on this one!
Thanks for doing this and have a great weekend. I’m going out for dinner tonight - recd check in the mail from IRS - appears I overpaid my taxes for 2012 by $0.11. Don’t even want to think about how much it cost to produce this check.

With either one, we're better off than with Dewhurst. There is enough money between Patrick and Staples that Dewhurst may well not see the run-off.

Patterson spoke at a Lincoln Day dinner I attended this year. Said part of his campaign platform included increasing guest worker program by a substantial amount. Decided right then he had lost my vote.

Dewhurst could write a check for $20 million and never miss it!

I don't know. This thread is about my ignorance as much as anything else. It's the place to raise questions and find answers about the candidates.

This I know--Patterson helped to unseat my ex-state rep who was targeted by Strauss in re-districting because he never supported Strauss for speaker.
That would be Wayne Christian who is running for RR commissioner. He is a real conservative. Patterson isn't... IMO. Patterson is all out for Patterson.

Is Patterson a supporter of Joe Strauss?Good question. This should be one of the litmus test questions we add to our "list"!

I had pretty much scratched Patterson from my possibles list.

Wayne Christian was our rep before he got re-districted and then lost. It was a huge disappointment. I’m glad he’s running for RR Commissioner.

Well, that kicks Patterson out of my consideration, then. Staples is looking pretty good, so far.
