So why then is Kentucky more quickly than almost any other state moving to implement the Affordable Care Act?
Because theres a huge disconnect between the rank partisanship of national politics and the outlook of governors whose job it is to help beleaguered families, strengthen work forces, attract companies and create a balanced budget.
Its no coincidence that numerous governors not just Democrats like me but also Republicans like Jan Brewer of Arizona, John Kasich of Ohio and Rick Snyder of Michigan see the Affordable Care Act not as a referendum on President Obama but as a tool for historic change.

Something tells me that the Republican leadership was neck deep in the IRS attacks on the Tea Party groups. Now that has been exposed and the Tea Party candidates are now taking leadership. The RNC is imploding andthe Rinos and Decepticons are known. Cruz did a huge service to this country. Conservatives should see the writing on the wall and start a new party. Let the GOP eat $hit$hitwith and Die.
I”ve finally resigned myself to the fact that both of them never really wanted to win. They just wanted to look good while running.
Rubio already (cannon) shot off both feet.
If you get a really nice one, you’ll get a free drink at any decent bar.
The McCornhole turd-le is up for re-election and has to walk the tight rope. Paul sees Cruz as the competition for 2016. It’s all about them and not the country.
It would also be nice if the RNC grew a pair and started sanctioning "republicans" that vote as democrats.
Good point.
The DC GOP and dems have one thing in common, they loath conservatives
You may have a point there. A letter from a Congressional Representative is taken seriously by any government agency, especially if it is with regard to investigating ‘ultra-conservatives’ that may be causing a particular Congressman or Senator problems.
Ive finally resigned myself to the fact that both of them never really wanted to win. They just wanted to look good while running.
Agree.
It’s a shame Palin & Ryan were saddled with them.
States who expand Medicaid to include those that are below the poverty level are being set up for a huge tab when the federal money tapers off leaving the state taxpayers to foot the bill.
It’s not enough they have to run the federal government into the dirt, they insist the states stay on a sinking ship. The water is fine they say.
Missouri hasn’t expanded Medicaid, so if you are below the poverty level, you’re not eligible for federal subsidies, you can’t join medicaid, you have no money for premiums or the co pay, but you will be penalized for not having insurance. (I think)
Ted Cruz is a monkey-wrench in the Republican machine and they don’t like it one bit.
He’s upsetting the apple cart they have spent decades balancing.
The system is thoroughly corrupting. The reward for acquiesence is too great; and the temptation, overwhelming.
DC Borg? Resistance is futile. Cruz has managed it so far.
Crap... I voted for this guy... TWICE!
Hey Steve?? Where does all that money that’s coming to Kentucky come from??? Oh, right.... from the people.
If we could grow the economy over the long term just with MORE government spending? No country, anywhere, would ever have a recession.
It’s folly... just MORE sucking at the Federal teet. JUST what Kentucky needs.. MORE, of what made this state a shithole to begin with.
I would be curious to know what really took place behind closed doors and did Tom DeLay step on McCains toes?
Something tells me that the GOP has been orchestrating alot of this against the Tea Party conservatives.
NO NO NO!
You may be right about the first part... but, we're on the right track, TAKE OVER the Republican Party!
If we can't take over this silly Party, what chance do you think we'd have to take over the country? None, that's what. 3rd party = death... for decades.
Bump!
Absolutely! This is the way I see it as well as voting against cloture would show that Rand Paul speaks with forked tongue. I hope this isn't the case as there's a lot about the guy that I like.
