Americas soft power, however, is more about what we do at home than what we do abroad...Liberals tend to emphasize what we do in the world over who we are in the world, because theyve fashioned a culture that denies American exceptionalism.... It is time that conservatives take ownership of this idea and put the emphasis back on what really counts.

We will never be respected in the world again until some huge event similar to WW II and global catastrophe makes us come in and save the world again, provided dims are not in charge in which case we will be on the wrong side. IN the very least we need several terms of a string conservative leadership in DC to stop the bleeding.
That said I am to the point the heck with the world let them fend for themselves like we do.
I agree, but if there isn’t firepower backing up the exceptionalism you won’t get far.

No doubt if the US Treasury sells trillions more in bonds to finance a big war, things will be glorious again.

Well...except when it didn’t, like ever. Most of the world’s bag guy’s only understand (respect) swift and blinding force — Everything else really only amounts to sending a six year old to his bedroom for a time-out (net result attitude unchanged).
