Why Sell Your Giant AT-ST Walker? Because Your Girlfriend Is Sick of It
Gizmodo ^ | 28SEP2013 | Eric Limer

Last Saturday, we told you about how there's a gigantic AT-ST Walker for sale on Ebay right now. It's still there, but why sell such a masterpiece in the first place? Because your girlfriend is freakin' sick of having it around.

The AT-ST's owner, Martin Fillery, explained the situation to the Daily Mail:

"I think my girlfriend is starting to get a bit worried about me. I've always been a bit mad, and I love sci-fi stuff, but my spending on props is going through the roof. ...The Scout Walker is amazing, but I realised pretty quickly that it was just too big to use as on stage, so I'm selling it so I can get more toys."

Those toys he's got his eye on? A batmobile and the ambulance from Ghostbusters. Seems like something of a lateral move, but what do I know; I've never owned an AT-ST.

But the moral of the story is: she's probably right.

It would make a fair deer stand but for what they want for it, no.

My brother had one of these when he was single, living in an apartment:

He began dating, became engaged, and subsequently married, then eventually
bought a house with his new bride.

On moving day, it went right on the fireplace mantle in the living room. That
lasted all of about 43 seconds.

I went to the website and still don’t know what a AT-ST Walker is. Or why anyone would buy one.

>> And yes, that’s a carburator soaking in solvent in the bathroom sink.

Baked the front springs in the oven.

You did powder coat in the oven?

My instructions said absolutely not to so I got a junk one just to do powder coat.

Wanted to reduce the coil height. Nothing like have a fully compressed spring in the oven. Not something I’d now recommend doing. I was a kid at the time.

Oh that’s ok. Just a little residual dirt burning off.
Now the powder coat has some nasty burnoff that they say will be “not good” for the next casserole you bake in there.
