We are, I fear, slowly moving from “the affluent society” toward a “spoils society.” In 1958, Harvard economist John Kenneth Galbraith published his bestseller, “The Affluent Society,” which profoundly influenced national thinking for decades. To the Great Depression’s survivors, post-World War II prosperity dazzled. Suburbia offered a quiet alternative to crowded and noisy cities. New technologies impressed — television, frozen foods, automatic washers and dryers. Never, it seemed, had so much been enjoyed by so many.

People want rewards based on need, rather than on productivity.

They claim the need gives them the right to take it from someone who has more.

The Leadership of the Socialists wants the luxury of taking pity on the poor, and they want the right to satisfy their pity by taking money from the producers. This is how the producers become slaves and ultimately stop producing.

A lot of this seems to be lawfare - attorneys that are not productive if they aren’t suing somebody. Tort reform needs to be high on the list if the R’s every take control again!

But the “poor” in this country demonstrably already have...

-Air conditioning
-Color Television
-Microwave Ovens
-Cell Phones
-in many cases, a Car
-Bags of Groceries at public expense

What more could they possibly want??

Coming from the WaPo, I’m willing to bet they are laying the groundwork for CEO’s and senior bankers to be labeled as “useless eaters”.

Need is a bottomless pit, and it will continue until all of us have nothing.

As a slave, why would I work for others who are only productive at establishing need?

At some point, I simply quit and establish my own need, in the hopes that slaves will work for me.
