The Connecticut mother who was gunned down by police yesterday after ramming a White House barrier with her young daughter in the car thought President Obama was stalking her, law sources said today.
Investigators have found indications that Miriam Carey suffered delusions due to a history of mental illness, NBC Connecticut reports.
Last night her mother revealed the 34-year-old has suffered from postpartum depression since giving birth to her daughter Erica last year.
These revelations are the first clues as to what led a seemingly happy dental hygienist to snap and drive her Infiniti luxury sedan 270 miles from her home in suburban Stamford to Washington, DC - where her rampage put the nation's capital on lock-down Thursday.

Yeah, how does a single mother dental hygienist afford to live in CT and drive a nice car? It’s probably a lease, and it’s just a G37 which isn’t that expensive but this still makes you wonder? Who’s the baby daddy?

Whatever became of the notion of simply shooting the tyres? The fellow in the photo with a pistol in hand could have done that easily.
A dental hygienist had a baby with no husband and payments on a 239K townhouse, condo association fees and an Infiniti. I’d be out of my mind, too.
Apartment is a type of building. Condominium is a form of financing. You can have apartments that are controlled by condo associations and those that are not; and you can have houses that are controlled by condo associations, or not.
That’s my take. She was lost and confused. Part of that might be her mental state, but certainly we have all been in that situation, where you have to drive somewhere but don’t know the area to know which streets are open, off limits, or one way streets. It looks like she bumped a barricade when she was forced to turn around, but when people started shooting at her she panicked and fled. What mother with a baby in her car would not try to get out of that situation?
When things calmed down, someone realized someone overreacted. Rather than having white house security take the blame, it was shifted onto the now dead victim.
The fact that the race hustlers are not all over this speaks volumes.
I feel sad for this woman, suffering from who knows what mental disturbances that had her delusional.
The capital was on high alert, deathly afraid that some tea party person was going to cause trouble over obamacare or the shutdown. They expected trouble, and reacted as they were told to: violently. What a bunch of anuses.
I see that they shot at her while she was in the car. She didn’t get out of the car and start shooting at the police.
If she didn’t have a gun, the media will go out of its way to suppress that piece of information, so as to protect the capital police, and by implication, the big boss.
When cops get into “get the a$$hole mode” they are incapable of seeing that the “a$$hole” is no danger to them, but is mentally disturbed. Two modes of action: “donuts” and “get the a$$hole.” Too many old people suffering from dementia have been shot by cops because they won’t put the TV remote down.
They have nothing to worry about. The ordinary American has been trained and intimidated into becoming a sheep and will never be a danger to them.
Too bad she wasn't a muslim, or didn't try this at Benghazi. They would have sent no one to stop her.

I've always thought of apartments as something one rents, and a condo as something one buys. I've NEVER heard of homeowner dues on apartments. But, perhaps in different areas they refer to these things differently than what has been my experience.

How many young women with PPD driving around DC erratically with baby’s in the back seat of the car would it take to overwhelm their response team.

Does anyone think the cops acted stupidly in this situation? Certainly, they over reacted.
