House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, the late former first lady Betty Ford and Title IX advocate Bernice Sandler were among the nine women inducted into the National Womens Hall of Fame Saturday.
The ceremony, attended by about 700 people, was held in Seneca Falls, the western New York village where the first known womens rights convention was held in 1848.
Our mission is to share the stories of these women with the general population and to inspire future generations to their own greatness, the halls deputy director, Amanda Bishop, said after the ceremony.

Is Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger already in there?
That is chilling, to put it mildly. Did she really say that?
I miss Helen Thomas
Great. Just keep Pelosi in there. They won’t even need to make a wax dummy of her.
I bet that hall needs mopping.
Could you imagine a “Men’s Hall of Fame?”
Imagine. Of all the women in the world, only a couple are able to get enough votes each year to get in. Who was nominated and didn’t make it? How many women are not Americans? Where do you get the nomination cards to fill out - WNBA games?
First Lady Betty Ford was just as bad as Pelosi, in her own way. Liberal Betty was even more of a RINO than her clueless husband Jerry was.
The media celebrated Betty Ford, of course. The supposed Republican was pro-abortion and pro-gun control. She pushed for the Equal Rights Amendment wand demanded equal pay for women (regardless of how well they did their jobs).
The prestigious and dignified First Lady said she would try marijuana if she were younger, even though it was totally illegal back then. She was pro-baby killing. She said if her daughter came to her and said she was having an affair, she would not be surprised because that was normal human behavior. Her embarrassed daughter issued a public denial.
Mrs. Ford, classy as always, is the perfect candidate for the highly liberal Women’s Hall of Fame.
