Yehuda Miklaf, a Jerusalem-based bookbinder, has a backlog of orders, and his highly regarded editions are still in demand. If I ever wrote a novel, my hero would be named Bookbinder, Cyrus Bookbinder.
For those who don’t know, observant Jews do not use electronic devices on Sabbath or Holidays, making printed texts even more important for study and prayer.
I know one such bookbinder: Daniel Roeber of Kfar Chabad in Israel.
Bookbinders frequently have a waiting list for their handiwork.
