Warning…Your Green Tea Isn’t What You Think It Is
Bottom Line ^ | 9-1-13 | Rebecca Shannonhouse

Posted on 10/20/2013 3:04:04 PM PDT by TurboZamboni

The disease-fighting punch of green tea is largely due to its high concentration of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a substance with more antioxidant activity than vitamins C and E and other nutritional heavyweights.

The other side of the green tea story: Even if you are consuming green tea, the truth is that you might not be getting what you pay for.

Some bottled green teas and even green tea supplements contain only trace amounts of EGCG. Meanwhile, the amount of EGCG in other green tea–based products can vary by more than 240%. These and other findings, from the scientists at ConsumerLab.com, an independent laboratory that evaluates supplements and other products, show just how important it is to shop wisely for green tea products

“another shill for green tea, so what makes yours so special?”

Well,,,, go to the link and read about the company. Personally, I don’t drink Green Tea for it’s supposed health benefits. I drink it because it’s so good tasting! Far better than grocery store commercial junk. If one likes tea, seek out the good stuff. Get a disk of fermented Green Tea, sit back and enjoy. And calling me a “shill” for Green Tea is silly, and insulting!! I hope that wasn’t your intention?

It wasn't......

As a side note, what's to say the site you are advocating is any better than the vast majority of internet sites promoting their own green teas......?

I like regular iced tea and tried a bottle of lip tons green tea and was not impression. I would like to try a good one though. But I definitely won’t be trying Lip tons again.

I really like jasmine tea, black tea and green tea with dried jasmine flowers in it. Occasionally I’ll have a cup of Earl Grey. But by far my biggest consumption of tea is at a store at the halfway point of a 5 mile walk I take every couple days where I almost always get an Arizona diet green tea with honey iced tea. I hope it’s good stuff.

Well,,,, the guy goes to China to select the teas he sells. I’m sure there are other sites that also sell high quality teas. Generation is the one I use. My Chinese friends all love the teas I serve them. I gave my Chinese herb doc a green tea “bird’snest. He loved it! My tea-hating friend, who is a very well-known guitarist, now on a sold-out month-long tour of China, couldn’t stand teas like Lipton, etc.. I made him a mug of organic gunpowder green tea, and now he’s a big fan of good tea. Don’t let the “organic” nomenclature upset you, it just means leaves picked from trees growing in the wild. Really good stuff!

The best tea in the world can be found here:

http://www.lupiciausa.com/

They have about a hundred different kinds. My favorite is their Christmas tea “Carol” that will be out after Thanksgiving.

If you want enough EGCG to make a difference in your health, forget every product they mention and get some “ceremony grade” Matcha tea powder from Japan. Pricey, but it will add years to your life.

I use green tea extracts in my water. Highly concentrated EGCG. By Nature’s Answer, or sometimes Gaia.

Or you could go to Costco and get their Japanese Matcha a whole lot cheaper.
