Warning…Your Green Tea Isn’t What You Think It Is
Bottom Line ^ | 9-1-13 | Rebecca Shannonhouse

The disease-fighting punch of green tea is largely due to its high concentration of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a substance with more antioxidant activity than vitamins C and E and other nutritional heavyweights.

The other side of the green tea story: Even if you are consuming green tea, the truth is that you might not be getting what you pay for.

Some bottled green teas and even green tea supplements contain only trace amounts of EGCG. Meanwhile, the amount of EGCG in other green tea–based products can vary by more than 240%. These and other findings, from the scientists at ConsumerLab.com, an independent laboratory that evaluates supplements and other products, show just how important it is to shop wisely for green tea products

I noticed they’re featuring rooibos this month, an herb high in antioxidants and flavones. I’ve noticed that if you sweeten it with a little honey - I used creamed honey - it tastes a lot like Juicy Fruit. Really delicious.

Lipton Diet Green Tea with Mixed Berry is a heck of a lot better for me than the 9-12 Cokes I used to drink every day!

I’m with you in the Gunpower tea. One of my favorites.

Funny thing—— on my first trip to China, the first tea I had (hotel) was from a Lipton Tea bag!!

Green tea consumption ended up being the root cause of my kidney stone formation.

I can't speak to the anti-oxidant content but the green tea sold at "Dollar Tree" is very good , fresh and priced right , 80 bags of Ceylon green tea for $1

Make me wonder what the lead content is.

I like rice too, but some of them have more aresenic in it than others.

I switch from mostly coffee to mostly tea in the winter.

I hate sites that don’t give you payment options right up front.

Other than that, looks like a good place to buy tea.
