I've heard people ask if you do not participate in this new Obama Care Program, and you owe the fine and do not pay it, you are considered a felon and therefore, your gun rights would be taken away as a result. Your thoughts?
Not paying the fine is not a felony.
I think people should be very careful about who they think should be denied various rights.
They can’t take what they can’t find ;-)
False rumor.
Supreme court says it’s not a fine it’s a “tax”. If you are liable to pay a tax, pay the tax. That doesn’t make you a criminal.
Ditto.
Back in the day, you were’t a felon until you were actually convicted. Maybe just the accusation is enough now. Or will they take your weapons (if you actually had any) until the case is decided. But then according to the anti’s just the fact that you would ever consider having a firearm could be grounds to have you adjudicated as having “mental issues”. What person in their “right” mind would ever want one of those?
...yet
The connection of the “fine”, and IRS refunds has been established, and even explained “on air”.
Those of you who file your “returns”, and will receive a “refund”, are the ones that the lovable IRS will have a finger upon.
Those of us who file “returns”, and are below the taxable rates, and insert ZEROES on their “returns”, using the calculation tables supplied by the IRS in their annual Form 1040 booklets, only, are beyond scrutiny, as explained “on air”, because we do not have anything to be “refunded”.
Technically, it doesn't work that way, due process is required, a trial and a judicial decision (judge must order or sentence).
However, it already works just as you fear (for any disagreement with the government) by any administrative bureaucrat simply entering your name and ID into one of several government databases. It is unlawful, but removing your name from these lists is very difficult and costly, and going around them is a crime.
There are no provisions in the law for collections. As long as you don’t overwithhold and have an income tax refund coming, there is nothing they can do. If you have an income tax refund coming, they can take it out of that.
Utter hysterical nonsense.
If the feds want to dredge ‘em up out of the lake, that’s their business...
When in doubt, go with the Long Duck Dong explanation...
“Lake...BIG Lake”
“What person in their right mind would ever want one of those?”
That’s right - who in their right mind would only want ONE?
:-)
If you like your gun, you can keep your gun, period...
