A day that should live in infamy
Jewish ^ | November 15, 2013 | Diana West

On Saturday, Nov. 16, the United States marks a milestone: the 80th anniversary of when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt recognized the Soviet Union and "normalized" U.S.-USSR relations. It is a day that should live in infamy.

But it's a day that hardly anyone has ever heard of. I certainly hadn't before researching my book, "American Betrayal." As I studied the event, however, it became clear that it was on this day 80 years ago that what I call "American betrayal" began. It is the date on which the U.S. government institutionally learned to lie.

After the Bolsheviks seized dictatorial powers in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution of 1917, four U.S. presidents (starting with Woodrow Wilson) and six secretaries of state (starting with Bainbridge Colby) refused to normalize relations with the new and bloody regime of Lenin ...

Does the phrase "global communism" ring a bell? The Soviet Union was openly committed to and already fomenting communist revolution against all nations, including, of course, the United States. (This call to conquest echoes today in Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic groups' calls to jihad for a global caliphate.) It was clear to our leaders back then that it wasn't possible to conduct normal relations with such an abnormal state.

...But such a war was already underway. Post-recognition, this Soviet war on America, spearheaded by traitors directed by Moscow, would intensify. A veritable army of Stalin's secret agents, agents of influence, fellow travelers and dupes entered the U.S. government and related institutions. They would fight an unceasing stealth war against this country, even -- I should say, especially -- during World War II. Much to the executive branch's consternation, the House and Senate would do much to expose this stealth Soviet war in the House Un-American Activities Committee and other committees.

A large number of communist leaders were Jewish, but that didn’t stop the communists from persecuting the Jews.

Nope. Speaking from experience...it's Tradition.

I married into a family that is Jewish. My wife and her father are staunch Conservatives. Her mother...well...she has certain mental defects that make it impossible for her to stand upright against the winds of change. But that's another story entirely.

Anyway, my wife's family on her mother's side are all Democrats. After 30 years, no matter how reasoned, logical or passionate I make my arguments, her uncle's, her grandparents, etc...all vote Democrat.

When I ask "Why?", they say, "That's the way my father (or mother) voted so it's good enough for me."
Sheep. Plain and simple. And these are not morons. Attorneys, doctors among them. It makes no sense.

Unless you remember the one word that holds a very high position in the Jewish family. Tradition.

I can offer no other explanation. Even when Obama was exposed as a Jew hating, Israel hating Muslim...they still voted Dem. All the way down the ballot.

I've stopped talking politics with them and in some cases stopped talking to them altogether.

I would argue they are morons. Formal education does not guarantee smarts.

Predictably, the neocons are smearing her for this book.

Anyone who questions anything about WWII must be silenced!

They're certainly trying their worst, though my impression thus far is they're making fools of themselves. West has the facts straight; everything else is noise.

"In 1930, Joseph Stalin appointed Litvinov as People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs. A firm believer in collective security, Litvinov worked very hard to form a closer relationship with France and Britain. In 1933 he successfully persuaded the United States to officially recognize the Soviet government. Franklin D. Roosevelt sent comedian Harpo Marx to the Soviet Union as a good-will ambassador, and Litvinov and Marx became friends and even performed a routine on stage together. Litvinov also actively facilitated the acceptance of the USSR into the League of Nations where he represented his country in 1934—1938."

On Halloween, I watched Diana West give the keynote address at the Pumpkin Papers Irregulars annual dinner in Washington, DC. She described in detail how our obsession with not offending the Russians hampered our efforts to curb Soviet espionage and subversion in the 1930’s and 1940’s and compared that outlook to today’s concern with not offending Muslims which stymies our efforts to cope with jihadist terrorism.

You can watch her address in its entirety here.

I can understand why "conservatives" like the FDR-worshiping Conrad Black would have a beef with her book, but why is the Front Page crowd going after her with such a vengeance?

A day that should live in infamy

You know, when the wall came down and the USSR collapsed, everyone thought we had defeated communism. Little did we know that in the 21st Century we'd have to be fighting it on the home front.
