OAKLAND, Calif. The weekly meetings of Mouthing Off!, a group for students at Mills College in Oakland, Calif., who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, always start the same way. Members take turns going around the room saying their names and the personal pronouns they want others to use when referring to them she, he or something else.
Its an exercise that might seem superfluous given that Mills, a small and leafy liberal arts school historically referred to as the Vassar of the West, only admits women as undergraduates. Yet increasingly, the shes and hers that dominate the introductions are keeping third-person company with they, ze and other neutral alternatives meant to convey a more generous notion of gender.

Remember when we used to keep the kooks in institutions ? Now they’re on college campuses (and often called “Professor”).
That’s not the worse part. In about 4? years some of these people will be out teaching this crap to our kids in the school systems. The rest will enter the workforce and demand the same treatment they got at this/these university(ies).
That divorce can’t come soon enough for me.
“’zee’ and other neutral alternatives”
They’ve already copped to “queer” so how about “freaks”?
You are witnessing just one element of the fall of western civilization. I guess it had to happen sometime. The only question is how it will be 5-10-20 years from now.
These are the day when I am quite happy to be old.
There’s a term normal people have been calling people like that for decades .... Wierdos.
Gender neutral....Just another way to get attention for the me, me’ me crowd...if that’s the case they won’t mind people pulling ther shorts down to verify as needed then...I guess they live in LaLaLand where you can have a penis and still be called a female....freaks
That’s OK. I was recently in a high school for very high performing students. Posted all around the halls was a notice for a “Queerology” program. Good thing I’d already eaten lunch hours before.
Going by your name, are you still in NYC? Was it a NYC school?
Yes it was.
The world sees us as crazy and on a very rapid decline. (I can’t fathom why we’re letting this happen to us. )
Anyone else thinking of investing in offshore rehab centers for desperate parents of children who are mentally disabled in this manner? There’s a fortune to be made, I tell you.
All the Mills College alumni I’ve met had confessed to it being a nearly 100% lesbian or bi environment back in the 90s. It’s probably further degenerated into who knows what.
Young adults are so immature these days that even admitting to gender is to “mature” for them to do. They are like a toddler girl who is confused why her male playmate has a snake...
“she, he or something else.”
How about She’it...
Too much controversy. Instead a doctor friend of mine keeps threatening to quit his ER practice and open a Botox and laser tattoo removal clinic. Cash only business and a lot more people will need that than getting straightened out.
Wasn’t that bad when I was in the NYC public education system for 13 years.
Buddy of mine from 3rd grade became a physician (ob/gyn). He gave up his practice 6 or 7 years ago and joined the investment firm of a guy he met in undergrad.
Just gave it up, and quit his office with 3 doctors (he was not the senior doctor), because of insurance. He said he was lucky to bring home 80k a year, working 60 hour work weeks, and on call the rest of the time. Just wasn’t worth it for him anymore.
